Yeah these moves reek of Gibbons. Carrera sucks and Tepera's performance last season was awful, and you know Gibby will use him when tough lefties are up despite zero evidence that he can get them out consistently.

I'm honestly disappointed this front office is catering to Gibbons rather than the other way around.

How do we possibly know whether it was Gibby or the front office or both who wanted each guy more?

You don't like Hendriks? That's cool he's gone. Pillar hits leadoff? Sure why not. You want Sanchez to start? Done. You like Osuna in the closer role? Here you go.

It really seems like Gibby is running the asylum.

Because the though that the new front office actually thinks just like Gibby is too depressing to contemplate.

So three players on the opening day 25-man who project as replacement-level garbage (or worse). I was hoping for fewer of these types this year.

It's rid-ic-or-ous. I'm so pissed off. What a way to start the day. Tell me this is Gibby and not our new fearless leader. Tepera and Thole are scrubs I can somwhat live with. Using useless EC while optioning Pompey and Ceciliani is what gets me the most. The guy must have pics of Gibby, cause he sucks.

Gibbons is the man in Toronto. Shatkins is a puppet.

Yeah. There really isn't an argument to be made for Carrera to stick around. He can't hit, and is a shockingly bad defender for a guy who runs as well as he does. He also hits left-handed, so there's not even the Saunders platoon excuse.

Giving Osuna the "closer" title probably has something to do with confidence and proper head space for the kid, it's not like he doesn't deserve it regardless. I'd like to see Storen getting is fair share of closing opportunities also, which I think will happen.

I don't know how the f*** they feel that Tepera is a better option than Venditte or Girodo as a lefty specialist, mind blowing to say the least.

Ceciliani not making it as the fourth outfielder is criminal. Carrera may be a bit quicker, but Ceciliani is far superior in reading fly balls. Ceciliani's bat could arguably be equal or better than Saunders', yet Carrera still gets the job because the front office is worried about losing this tremendous asset through waivers.

Let's hope things play out and everything lands where it should.

Gibby is pretty f***ing dumb..

If this confirms 1 thing i think its that Front office is not going to interfere with on field matters and leave it up to Gibbons..... Which sucks.

I agree with everything you said...

Blah blah blah incremental wins blah blah blah.

Outside of it's ability to baffle this board with ******** there isn't much this FO has done to impress.

It's crazy. Gibbons would be begging for work if he was fired tomorrow. He's not some in-demand manager. If anything, he should be the one open to changing to fit the front office's philosophy, yet here they are catering to him. Insanity.

I never thought I'd be asking for Eric Wedge to manage this team, but I think I'm on that bandwagon now.

We're better off with Lake as the fourth outfielder vs Carrera. At least he's a RHH and can be used in a drawn out extra inning game vs a tough LHP. They both run and defend the same, so I'm not getting it.

Games haven't even started and we've seen four egregious decisions at least partially attributable to Gibbons:

- Pillar leading off

- Carrera over Pompey and Ceciliani (hell, I'd prefer Lake)

- Tepera

- Osuna closing (will cost the team hundreds of thousands of dollars)

Just wondering what the purpose of the 4th OF tryout was:

Carrera: .154/.258/.346, 1 HR, 1 SB (32 PAs)

Pisan: .417/.500/.833, 4 HR (42 PAs)

Not sure why the loyalty for a guy who will pinch run and ideally see half as many PAs in the season than the regulars.

Are you serious? How are you already a Shapiro apologist when he hasn't even done anything useful? Last I checked the GM decides who is on the roster.

Two of those are directly, 100% Gibbons. The other two were certainly at Gibbons' request with the FO signing off (which they shouldn't have).

Giving him enough rope to hang himself with.

How does Osuna closing cost the team hundreds of thousands of dollars? Genuinely asking, not challenging...I'm only one coffee into my morning.

When it comes to arb salaries for relievers the two biggest criteria are ERA and saves. Letting Storen get the saves this year and then leave via free agency would help keep Osuna's arb salary down.

That thought actually crossed my mind, and I'd like to believe that's true, but didn't they give him a raise recently? They removed his stupid vesting options, or whatever those were called, but I believe he's locked up through 2017 now for more $. Would have made sense if he was a lame duck to just let him sink with his guys and then can him afterwards, but given how important 2016 is to this franchise, giving up even the tiniest bit of incremental value to make an inherited manager happy just makes no sense to me. The moment Pillar's name was mentioned as a lead off candidate, someone (Atkins/Shapiro) could have stepped in. Fine, they let that slide. But now this? It's scary to think they'll give Gibby the same freedom that AA gave him. It's a recipe for disaster.

Ultimately this is on Shapiro. Bucks got to stop somewhere. He needs to reign in Gibby's decisions on roster spots when he is intent on snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

You could be on to something. Imagine the fan base's reaction would be like if Shapiro fired Gibby and brought in Wedge after the season we had?

Shapiro has a plan and catering to Gibby is part of the script. Let the team faulter with Gibby as the architect in order to justify his release.

Even though we're in a "win now" window, it's not Shapiro's team. Let the team be somewhat competitive based on talent alone this year to keep the fan base interested, but come next year there will be changes, including no Bautista, EE and more importantly Gibbons.

Yeah, it pains me to say this as a Shapiro fan, but he deserves the blame here. He could easily put his foot down and make Gibbons adapt to him, but he's doing the opposite. Let Gibby be Clint Hurdle and implement what the new regime wants. He'd probably do it, too. He seems open minded enough. But if you ask him what he wants to do, and then listen to him....f***.

Osuna is a better pitcher than Storen so it's perfectly defensible from the invalid perspective that your best reliever should be your closer. I really don't give a f*** about a few hundo K in arb 3 years from now and neither should you.
