closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Something tells me we will have vendors selling "grass" brownies in the concessions before we have grass on the field of play.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Then wtf is a priority!? I think number 1 has to be Spring Training Facility. My guess is RC needs renovations infrastructure wise as its 25 years old. There is probably 200-300 Million of work needed to be done to RC in the next 10 years.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Apparently grass would cost between $200-400 Million. Makes sense to upgrade other parts of the stadium if the cost is going to be that much since you probably are going to go to move to a different ballpark in 15 years anyway. I'd like to see them take out a whole bunch of the empty suites they have and make a lounge/bar that overlooks the field. Like half the suites sit empty so you might as well do something with them. http://www.nationalpost.com/m/wp/sports/blog.html?b=news.nationalpost.com/sports/mlb/toronto-blue-jays-mark-shapiro-says-grass-at-rogers-centre-is-not-a-top-priority&pubdate=2015-12-17
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 how about they start with man size seats? paying $80 for a seat where no one has arm room is pretty lame. It's like flying coach on Air Canada. My kids are pretty small and even they thought the seats were bloody small.

It's like flying coach on Air Canada. My kids are pretty small and even they thought the seats were bloody small. New seats and cupholders on every seat would be a huge upgrade. Also, if they could have a virtual seat map on the website that would be amazing. Blows my mind how in 2015 the club's website for buying tickets is such garbage.
Art Vandelay Verified Member Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 As far as I know, they are planning on removing the current seats, and putting in news ones, which will be wider than the current set. As for a new ball park in 15 years, I wouldn't count on it.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Lol where the f*** have you guys been sitting? I'm 6'4 and I've never had a problem with the seat sizes. Some people just complain about everything.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Probably the same height as Orgfiller and 0 problems. http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/trollpasta/images/f/f6/Alg-crying-baby-jpg.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140323182823

AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I don't attend a lot of games but i sat in the 113's for a playoff game this year and it was ridiculous. If you have all full grown men in the row you have to stagger one person leaning forward, next leaning back. No cup holders. Someone mentioned there are cup holders in certain parts of the stadium but not in the $225 playoff seats I guess.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Grass should be top priority of any renovation.
Art Vandelay Verified Member Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Is this for all seats? I know they did the 200s last year. According to a National Post article that ran a few months ago: All stadium seats will be replaced. That project has also begun. Brooks said it may involve making the seats larger, which could result in the loss of 2,000 to 3,000 seats. http://news.nationalpost.com/sports/mlb/toronto-blue-jays-installing-grass-at-rogers-centre-just-one-of-many-upgrades-planned-for-aging-stadium
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Thats interesting because when I bought my season tickets the seat map looks the exact same with the same amount of seats in each row. It would make sense from the Blue Jays perspective to shrink the number of seats to the low 40,00s as well since it increases demand. Close to 50,000 is way too many seats for a baseball park. Now that the blue jays don't share with the Argos I wonder if they will change the seating directions as well. Like ALM said the baseline seats aren't even facing homeplate.

Some people just complain about everything. Usually in 100 level baseline. My legs hit the back of the next seat, it's just a fact. I don't expect venues to cater to people that are 3 standard deviations above average height, though. There might only be 5-10 people at a game who have problems, so I usually just get an aisle seat and put my legs there.

I had to do the same thing at Fenway, and their seats are solid f***ing metal with 0 give. I had to give up seats in about the 3rd row.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I'm like 5'5, and the seats in the 100 level outfield are f***ing small. A noticeable difference in space between the 200 outfields and 100s.

I moved my flex pack seat from 100 RF to 200 RF last year. I'm enjoying the 200s more. And there have been no shortage of homeruns in my area haha. Seems almost every game, someone hits a bomb that lands a few seats away from me.

I love everything about him Although a lot of the fans are idiots and he just doesn't seem to care about pandering to them. That's the refreshing part.

That's the refreshing part. I'm worried for him though, he hasn't had much of a honeymoon period and there's not a lot of goodwill towards him from casual fans. People like Griffin are openly criticizing him just a couple of months in, that didn't happen to AA even years after his failures. He doesn't have much room for failure before the public completely turns against him and Rogers starts feeling the pressure to replace him. http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2015/12/17/turf-wars-heating-up-with-blue-jays-griffin.html

Maybe. This is all just sour grapes because of the whole AA situation. I think it will blow over at some point..
