Pick your targets! Who jumps out as a great deal? Terrible deal? Mark Lowe looks like he would be a guy to bring back if it only cost 8 million. Brett Anderson would be one of my targets. Especially at that cost. Rich Hill is interesting as a number 5 I'd sign Iwakuma to 3/42 in a heartbeat but think he gets more than that.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 John Jaso is another guy I would target. Great LH bat who would be a great fit in this lineup. If you trade EE he could be DH vs RHP or can just play him at 1B.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Zobrist (3/42) Kuma (3/42) Kennedy (3/36) Lackey (2/30) Jaso (2/12) Lowe (2/8) Madson(1/5) Are all appealing.

Pick your targets! Who jumps out as a great deal? Terrible deal? Heyward looks very nice for those numbers. I would be pissed as a fan of the team that signs Price. Greinke seems like a better deal for a better pitcher and less risk. Cespedes looks like a landmine. Kazmir and Iwakuma both look very desirable for those prices/years. Off the Shark train at that cost, too.
fireballW Verified Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Would you have Zobrit rotating through everyone or would he mostly play 1B?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I really really want Kuma. He is a great fit for the stadium being a ground ball pitcher and a solid fielding team behind him.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Dave Cameron in his chat said Zobrist was way low. Expected him to get close to 4/76.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Zobrist. And then shop around every hitter not named Donaldson or Martin. Whichever one nets the best pitcher in return, Zorilla gets their position.
fireballW Verified Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 With about 30 mil to spend I'd probably want Iwakuma, Lowe and Lackey if I didn't dislike him so much.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Bastardo at 2/8 isn't a bad deal either, but would obviously prefer Lowe.
fireballW Verified Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Zobrist. And then shop around every hitter not named Donaldson or Martin. Whichever one nets the best pitcher in return, Zorilla gets their position. Can Zobrist play an adequate shortstop?
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Can Zobrist play an adequate shortstop? I wouldn't expect him to play 150 games there that's for sure.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Is Chris Young truly an xFIP beater? If he is, and there is evidence that he is, then 1 year 6 million would be a good get.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Can Zobrist play an adequate shortstop? I think at this point, he'd be more of a short term fill-in at SS if he was to play there. Still nice flexibility to have.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Damn, I would love to see Greinke play for us.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Not a fan of Cespedes or Gordon deals. Gallardo deal might be the worst one on there.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 http://www.breakingblue.ca/2015/10/20/chris-young-better-than-you-think/ Yeah that's the article I was referencing as evidence. If that is true then for 1 year 6 million for a pitcher who is coming of 2.4 and 3.0 RA9-WAR seasons makes a ton of sense for the #5 SP. This ballpark wouldn't do him any favors though. I might even give him that much money to be our long man and #6 SP which we will certainly need at some point.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 What do you think Cesar Ramos goes for. Would me nice to have another Solid Lefty out of the Pen. When cecil went down that was a glaring hole.
blurnandez Verified Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Iwakuma and Lackey really do seem like the best SP values out there. Like others have said, would like to see Kuma in a Jays uniform, but I have a feeling he'll resign with the M's. They seem to have a good relationship.

Breaking Blue counts as peer reviewed and official...please don't ever make this mistake again.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Breaking Blue counts as peer reviewed and official...please don't ever make this mistake again. Lol I know I know! But it's hard for me to forego the eye test AND stats such as xFip to actually advocate the signing of Chris Young who I had always presumed was a piece of s***.

I'm sure the article mentions this, but he gets an elite amount of infield flies, so there are tangible reasons that you can see on the stat sheet. It's not a complete leap of faith.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Joe Blanton at 1/4 would be fantastic.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 So is Price at less than $6 Mil/ WAR a good value I'd say so. 6 WAR+ 2 years in a row
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Would love Zobrist to take over LF for us and slide to SS when Tulo goes down. Heyward to lead off would also be a wet dream
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 This is who I would try to pick up: 1) Chen 29 years old 4/52 Need a solid starter and he's pretty inexpensive. 2) Kennedy 30 years old 3/36 (depends if Padres extend qualifying offer). 3) Jaso 31 years old 2/12 Looks amazing if he can back up catcher. Otherwise, not sure we have room for him. 4) Sipp 31 years old 2/10 Great stats. We need another lefty. 5) Mark Lowe 6) Shawn Kelley
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Is anyone comfortable with Zobrist at 4/70? Because that is what baseball insiders think he would get. I'm in favour of signing a couple of guys like Lowe and Blanton for the pen then using Sanchez and/or Osuna as trade chips to get a good SP.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
