The Cleveland Indians have had three 90 win seasons in the past 10 years and look primed for another one in 2016. This is all on a payroll that is on the lower side. Shapiro knows what he is doing.

It's irresponsible to not acknowledge the mess he inherited from Riccardi man. C'mon. You're better than that.

What you talkin' 'bout? AA inherited a great team that was set up to compete for many years and f***ed it all up immediately.

Back and excited for ST.

Glad to have you back sir.

This is actually the first time I've ever posted with you as a Jays fan, lol

The Jays didn't just lose AA, they are going to lose a lot of staff responsible for drafting, signing and helped make the decisions on trades for players. AA was always quick to credit his team and clearly there many people impacted the team. He's a likable guy who will take some valuable people with him so be careful what you wish for BTS/Hurl.

Couldn't be happier that Chuck Lamar and Perry Minasian will be kicked to the curb. If you followed baseball at all, maybe you wouldn't be s***ing your pants at this moment.

Shapiro got stripped of his personnel making decisions after 2 sub 70 win seasons in 2009 and 2010. You're going to give him credit for the 2016 season? It's been reported he's excited to be back in a position to impact the roster since he took on the Blue Jays position. Last time I checked the Indians didn't have the Red Sox and Yankees in their division.

Who cares if AA's puppets are gone, the guy who was making the FINAL decisions is gone. That's scary.

I actually don't think this has as much Shapiro vs AA as many think. I think AA got the message last off season when Rogers pursued Kenny Williams and Dan Duquette as team presidents, both of whom were Baseball Operations guys, that they weren't happy with the team's on-field performance.

At the end of the day, if one or both parties didn't think they could work together, then it's best to part ways.

I wish AA good luck whereever he winds up, I think he did a good job overall although I thought he could have done better and was at times trying to help Beeston go out on top by pushing up the team's competitive window.

It seems to me that Rogers got lucky since they wanted Kenny Williams to run the show.

It's fine to not be sold on Shapiro but at least be honest about it. He was promoted to President and assembled a front office that could operate effectively and with relative autonomy. Of course he deserves credit for the 2016 team. His prints are all over it.

By promoting him to team president? Wat?

AA got stripped of his mailroom duties. What a loser.

in my mind, getting shapiro is definitely a coup... i would have liked to see however him and AA work together and watch AA get to the next level of growth by learning from shapiro...all these years spent essentially investing in AA's "education" ...

the one regrettable thing and serious cf in all of this is rogers ...it's bush league how they've handled this, not only today but going back to tampering Duquette and willams and then having reinsdorf call Beeston; i get mad when guys like reynold and others make fun of the "guys up north" and then you turn around and one of the biggest company in canada is reinforcing all these stereotypes...

shapiro, hopefully with a new mgr soon - these are the things that i'm looking forward to...

The Yankees aren't nearly as strong as they used to be because their ownership seems to have imposed some sort of rules around the payroll. The Red Sox have been bad for a few seasons now but I think they'll probably win the division next year.

I may not follow the game enough to know every executive, scout, player and prospect in the game, but I do watch baseball. I think the Jays have drafted and traded for some good young players in the past few years, but maybe you don't like Stroman, Syndergaard or Osuna. I know you just look at Lamar and see him as the idiot who was the predecessor to your hero who's poster you jerk off to every night.

So why exactly did he leave a team president role with one organization to go go another?

I think we can assume he got a pay raise. And he probably received indication that he wouldn't be dealing with a bottom-5 payroll anymore.

I feared Cleveland would win the wild card this year, then ride their rotation to the World Series....I hope Shapiro had something to do with that rotation and can build us one just like it in one off season, we will win 100 games.

The Yankees aren't as strong because they had a whole bunch of aging players signed to monster contracts, and had little to no players coming out of the farm.

Aging players signed to monster contracts you say? Yup. Going to be hard to say goodbye to Edwin and/or Jose, but we are going to have to face that sooner than I care to.

The Yankees of old would have hung on to Cano.

I'm pretty sure your level of baseball watching is the Jays and whomever they're playing that day.

Red Sox are a maybe.. but that will depend if Dombrowski spends on the right pitching via either free agency or trades (most likely trades, as they have a deep farm and limited financial flexibility.) And they need to actually build a bullpen, which is Dombrowski's Achilles heel--ask Tigers fans. And of course, the Yankees are basically waiting for 2017-18 when the bad contracts finally come off the books.

Plus free health care. Don't forget that sweet sweet Canadian health care.

Joking aside, I think most people would also leave Cleveland to Toronto for the city alone.

such is the life of someone with a wife, kids and a business. I know we all wish we could spend 80 hours a week on baseball, but I do have family and clients to think of. I'm not suggesting Shapiro can't and won't have success. Like many executives who have been in baseball for some time they have both success and failures. I'm just saying if it ain't broke don't fix it. AA should still be with the Jays.
