Yet you're perfectly willing to gift Stroman a spot based on what? The 27 innings he pitched at the end of last season?

Is this your first spring training as a baseball fan?

No,it's not.

It might be the first one where the jays have an abundance of viable starting pitching options and only 1-2 spots to fill though.

the f*** you on about are rotation is mediocre at its best, without Stroman its easy - bottom half of the league.

Let's say Hernandez and Floyd marginally outpitch Stroman this spring(not out of the realm of possibility).Do they demote them to the pen,or cut them loose all together, and keep Stroman? If so,why are they even here?

How the f*** is having a conversation about the Blue Jays starting rotation on a Blue Jays message board considered trolling?

Just shut the f*** up.

It's considered trolling when you suggest the best SP by a wide margin shouldn't be the one obvious lock for the rotation based on spring training performance.

If he were the best starting pitcher by a wide margin you might have a point. That's far from a certainty therefore you don't.

It may not be trolling but it's insanely stupid.

And when everyone else on the board is disagreeing with you chances are pretty good that you are wrong so shutting your mouth and walking away is probably your best option.

I think there's two spots in the rotation that should be up for grabs. Stroman,Hutch,Hernandez,Penny,Chavez,Diamond,Sanchez and Floyd should all have equal opportunities to win them. If anything Stroman,Hutch and Sanchez should have to outperform the rest because they have options.

You are giving the mods options to ban you with those horribles arguments brother.

Storen and Osuna have options, send them both to AAA and put the crappy Delabar in the bullpen

Don't worry, I know you're not a troll.

In Buffalo?

He's not likely to pitch his way out of a spot in the rotation but stranger things have happened.

^^^^^^^^^^the above post is a strange thing and I have no idea why it happened.

Stroman is the Blue Jays ace. he's as sure as the sunrise tomorrow if he is healthy. He would have been their opening day starter LAST YEAR if he hadn't hurt himself in ST.

What makes you believe that he's not the best SP the Jays have by a wide margin?

In 2014 he had 130 innings, in 2015 he had 27 innings.

Both of them are very similar in terms of results, at around xFIP- of 83. That means he's 17% better than the league average.

If you look at both 2014 and 2015, the only other starter that comes close to that performance is Price with xFIP- of 71, so 29% better than league average. But even that is a very small sample size. Price career numbers are closer to xFIP- of 80, so not far away from Stroman at a fraction of the cost.

He likely is the best pitcher by a wide margin, though. Whether he has some sophomore implosion remains to be seen, but he's pretty plainly the most reliably dominant starting arm on the squad. If his spot is uncertain then all five spots should be uncertain.

IF you guys would stop f***ing quoting him then i would not have to read some of his s***..... IL if you know he is a troll

He's not a troll, just a dumbass.

Not sure..... If he is arguing that Stro is competing to stay with the team then he is a troll. Nobody is that dumb

I didn't say he wasn't their best pitcher. I said it was far from a certainty.

Dickey has won a Cy Young

Happ and Estrada were two of the best pitchers in the league the last half of last season

Floyd and Penny have had multiple 4+ fWAR seasons.

For about the tenth time.I don't think it's likely that Stroman pitches his way off the team.Or that all or any of the rest pitch so much better than him that they might afford to keep in in the minors to start the year.Just saying stranger things have happened.
