Apparently Jays are close to signing Petit. Had a terrible first half last year but was good in the 2nd half and has been the last few years. I'd be on board with a 1 year 3-4 Million deal. As long as he is facing mostly RHH he should be pretty good.

 

We could have had Petit and his projected 2.4 million arbitration salary from the Giants for a token return. If he gets more than that, it makes our FO look a little stupid and unprepared.

They were free agents and not available through trade. Obviously Petit was made available by the Giants at ~2.4 mil and no one made an offer.

I dunno, maybe it wasn't obvious that he was available? You have to think a lot of teams would pay him 2-3M and would have been willing to throw some cash or a PTBNL SF's way.

Hahaha... everything you've posted today from the SN crew, he just regurgitated on the tv box. Except, he did bring up getting a Director of the Scouting Dept. and a new emphasis of player development. He avoided any questions of 17 and reiterated that 16' is to win the East again, etc...

Seeing what upper end relief pitchers are commanding in trade, I don't see signing 10M guy as that risky. They will probably have to spend a 2-3 for a guy projected around replacement, those guys have no value if they decide to sell. You also can stretch Osuna out to start, which likely has a ton of value long term.

He was on Tim and Sid and basically said he hopes it comes out of Shi's check basically, and that when it's official and the i's are dotted, they'll let everyone know.

Well you'd think if Petit and Aoki were shopped the M's would have given up some pittance for Nori, and that didn't happen.
