King Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Eury de la Rosa? It's nearly impossible to speculate.

DerangedIdoit Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 This is one of those posts that isn't witty or funny and just comes off as offensive. You shouldn't have made this post. It's a bad post. You should feel bad. No offense but most of the stuff that passes for humor on this board is lame and or bad this one included. However at least this one took some thought.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Apparently Jays are close to signing Petit. Had a terrible first half last year but was good in the 2nd half and has been the last few years. I'd be on board with a 1 year 3-4 Million deal. As long as he is facing mostly RHH he should be pretty good. We could have had Petit and his projected 2.4 million arbitration salary from the Giants for a token return. If he gets more than that, it makes our FO look a little stupid and unprepared.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 They also overpaid Happ, Did the same thing AA did with Navarro. They were free agents and not available through trade. Obviously Petit was made available by the Giants at ~2.4 mil and no one made an offer.

Obviously Petit was made available by the Giants at ~2.4 mil and no one made an offer. I dunno, maybe it wasn't obvious that he was available? You have to think a lot of teams would pay him 2-3M and would have been willing to throw some cash or a PTBNL SF's way.

Except, he did bring up getting a Director of the Scouting Dept. and a new emphasis of player development. He avoided any questions of 17 and reiterated that 16' is to win the East again, etc... Thanks for all the tweets and info, King. Much appreciated.
Gorlak Verified Member Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 This guy is awesome. Seeing what upper end relief pitchers are commanding in trade, I don't see signing 10M guy as that risky. They will probably have to spend a 2-3 for a guy projected around replacement, those guys have no value if they decide to sell. You also can stretch Osuna out to start, which likely has a ton of value long term.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Read that Shapiro was pissed at Shi for leaking the Barney signing and he refused him an interview at the Winter meetings media meet.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 LOL that's his job. that's sort of what I thought...that fine line of the team owning a network. Shapiro likely gave him info expecting that there was an agreement between the two

He said it as a joke as in the Jays didn't announce anything so he hope's Shi has the money to pay barney not hoping sportsnet would dock him pay. If you're going to relay info please make sure it's atleast correct

To be fair he said it as a joke, but came across as salty about it.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Shapiro is smart. Paying relievers big money is a cute expenditure that the truly big boys should be doing only

I just don't see what reason the Giants would have to keep his availability a secret when they intended to cut him loose.

Well you'd think if Petit and Aoki were shopped the M's would have given up some pittance for Nori, and that didn't happen.
vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I know bullpens are just rife with risk and volatility, but, I'll be glad when they finally start signing some pen arms.
