tazsub3 Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Well it's kind of weird, that after 20 plus years ago the jays were in the playoffs and you forget how they got shafted in the 90's. This play reminds me of the Gruber triple play. In both cases a tag was applied and the end result was safe. Even at the same bag http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1291&d=1444440212 wow , i had forgotten about that. good (sad reminder)
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I was at the game and suffered through it. Such a heartfelt loss, I'm not sure what reactions took place here, my phone died. Things that hurt were those 2 jacks that went foul, it also felt like the ump was squeezing us all game (haven't got to confirm that yet), the early defensive miscues hurt and why didn't JD tag the lead runner in the DP attempt? Just a rush of emotions from this game, was really hoping Hendriks would have been in as well over Hawkins. Ahhhhh. Fuuuuck, just super frustrated.

Just frustrated and trying to turn attention to Sunday and hoping for a miraculous turnaround.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 it was beautiful. I remember when Terell Owens did somethings similar to this. Was a digusting act. Knowing the story though its funny. The guy threw it at him.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Derek Holland: Texas Rangers Pitcher Allegedly Wipes Backside With Blue Jays Towel During Game 2 of the American League Division Series on Friday, Holland was in the bullpen when he was filmed picking up a Toronto Blue Jays rally towel and wiping his backside with it. May have already been mentioned and I missed it. Kind of symbolic, considering how Texas wiped their ass with the Blue Jays these first 2 games. Less social media, more focus next game pls.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 He's out and the call shoulda been overturned IMO.
candymartinez Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I really have no clue how people say he shouldn't have been called out. They must be BLIND. That shot CLEARLY shows his foot off the bag and the tag applied. It's pretty simple.

His spikes were just barely touching, but still safe. The 92 play is an out though, clear as day.

But I was sure Pillar was safe at home last week and then someone posted the MLB video of it and they got it right. When things were going right for us we seemed to get all those kinds of calls.

Jellz Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 He's probably out, but I'm not mad cause it's such a ticky tack thing and being called out for coming mm's off the bag is kinda cheap
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 http://i.imgur.com/EhgwEoF.jpg I saw that. Inconclusive. So it stands. We had many chances to bury that win before this anyway. Became a war of attrition and we didn't get much luck. I'm going to believe we can defy the odds and win 3 in a row until we don't.
candymartinez Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Lol Not edge? Edge? By that logic. You can't tell if the glove is touching his leg.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 All those innings where 1 measly run would have won the game What a fail by the offense

I know there wasn't any conclusive evidence, would have been nice if the baseball gods gave us a little helper there. Though from what it looked like, his foot is off the bag, you can see Odor placing his foot back. If there was a better angle Jays probably get the call. Jays are blame for this loss as they played horrible defense in the beginning and stopped hitting. It looks like pillar and revere are doing some of the damage, unfortunately they aren't the heavy swatters on the team
sneakyflute Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Lol Not edge? Edge? By that logic. You can't tell if the glove is touching his leg. Some of the stills that are circulating the net are kind of deceiving because of the way the shadow obscures the edge of the bag. It gives the impression that there's a considerable gap between the bag and Odor's foot. If you look at the frame in the replay video, it doesn't look like his foot leaves the bag.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Napoli and Odor.. s***.. why Napoli dive and takled Cecil in the play he was a sure out? is Cecil's season done? Looks like Cecil is done, yes.

I shouldn't really comment I guess considering I've had about 17 beers today.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 This. Why can you see grass and dirt all of the way between his foot and the bag? Use some common sense man.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 All those innings where 1 measly run would have won the game What a fail by the offense Yep that's where most of the blame should be placed the past two games. There's no excuse why they couldn't do much against Gallardo yesterday (such a terrible approach to him the first few innings), and Hamels/bullpen today (they took the foot off the gas pedal once they got the 1-run lead and went back to trying to hit Homers every at-bat instead of going oppo).
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 All those innings where 1 measly run would have won the game What a fail by the offense When Tulo, Martin and the big 3 go combined 3 for 27 we won't win many times. Even if one of those 3 hits is a solo shot.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I think the most frustrating thing for me as a fan, and probably for the players as well, is how little they've been in control of the games both Game 1 and most of Game 2. We had been behind playing catch up/at even score for most of the innings in Game 1/2 combined after an early slip up by us in both, and it seemed like everytime we inched back into it, they went ahead to score an extra insurance run. We finally got over the hump and took the lead in today's game but to give that up in just a few innings (with your best reliever on at that) was just totally demoralizing. IMO this team needs one of those typical big innings they were used to getting in the regular season to get their confidence and groove back, to believe that they can overtake the control of any given game at any time again.
