spats Verified Member Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 Time to bring him up and send Espy down. His head is not in the game. I think he misses his buddies, doesn't seem very engaged this year.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 The Orioles keep calling up prospects without trades or injuries. They just cycle the playing time. The Jays prefer to play the starters are much as possible, which is fine, except one of them has a 74 wRC+ in LF and either needs a platoon partner or needs to be playing a lot less in general. Like I said, I'm curious to see what Atkins does. You have Orelvis, Barger, Schneider, and Horowitz who can all help the 2024 team. Schneider and Barger can probably help the 2023 team as well given they can play 2B/LF, and Varsho/Espinal/Biggio all kinda stink right now. Will they be used as trade bait or players the club will try to cycle onto the roster? I think the former is more likely than the latter with all of them except Orelvis (who I suspect they will keep and play at 3B at some point in 2024) but the others are questionable.
metafour Verified Member Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 Recent draftees Brennan Orf (13th round) and Bryce Arnold (UDFA) are making their pro debuts with Dunedin tonight.
metafour Verified Member Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Josh Kasevich was 2 for 3 with a HR (#3) and a BB last night. On the season: .296/.371/.372 with 25 BB to 29 K If he can add even a bit of launch angle to his swing, he's a player.

Very much a "Cleveland" draft pick College guy with hit tool and plate discipline. Try to teach him how to hit for some power... The 2022 draft has a chance to be a difference maker for the organization. Roden looks good, Doughty and Kasevich are holding their own, Toman is still a teenager and has a chance, Fluharty looks like a hit, T.J. Brock has sick ratios, Peyton Williams was hitting in A ball... then of course there is Barriera. And some other names nobody talks about like Nolan Perry and Pat Gallagher and Ryan Jennings... ... just an awful lot of talent that is NOT busting right away. Lots of decent K/BB rates or decent wRC+ there.
metafour Verified Member Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 6th round pick OF Jace Bohrofen is DH'ing in the FCL today.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 The whole farm system outlook has taken a drastic turn toward improvement after the first month of the season. Tiedemann, Barreria and Barger are back from injury. Orelvis and a few others did a 180. And a ton of guys previously off the radar are continuing to have good years.
BlueBaller Verified Member Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 Davis Schneider has 69.walks in 293 AB's!
metafour Verified Member Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 Ricky Tiedemann in Dunedin: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K

BlueBaller Verified Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Another home run for Davis Schneider. Also a triple and a walk.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Another home run for Davis Schneider. Also a triple and a walk. He's gotta be wondering what he has to do to call up at this point. He's up to a .991 OPS lol. Meanwhile we play Varsho everyday in LF.

Meanwhile we play Varsho everyday in LF. Lukes has an OPS of 962 with a 2BB/SO ratio in 88 Buffalo ABs. The Blue Jays have not given any Buffalo player a fair shot at MLB recently, so we do not know how those numbers would actually translate.
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Van Eyk threw 0.2 inning today then got pulled. Probably dead.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Barriera looks fat smh. He's noticeably a lot more filled out since Draft Night.
BlueBaller Verified Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Holy s*** why can't anyone control there eating anymore
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Holy s*** why can't anyone control there eating anymore This org does not hold players accountable.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Maybe a sneaky deadline asset lol. He has been much better over his last 12 or so starts. But off to rough start in AAA today. Already walking 3 in 2 innings.
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Ibuprofen hits the first HR of the 2023 draft class.
metafour Verified Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Tucker Toman 3 for 4 with a 2B today. He's had a rough season so hopefully he can close out strong.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Pham apparently not leaving with the Mets for their road trip allegedly. Not gonna lie wouldn’t be thrilled with a Leo Jimenez for Pham swap.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Did MiLB.com make a mistake or did Spencer Horowitz actually start at 2B today?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Did MiLB.com make a mistake or did Spencer Horowitz actually start at 2B today? Nope. He did only his 3rd professional start there I believe.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Did MiLB.com make a mistake or did Spencer Horowitz actually start at 2B today? Have to find a way to fill 2B in AAA for when our boy Moustache Schneider comes up to play 2B in the last few months.
