glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 We need a future CFer. Can Groshans, Martinez or Moreno play there? I wouldn't count on any of those 3 being able to play CF, but I do think the Jays will have to consider trying some of their infield prospects in CF to see if the athleticism, range, etc, plays there. Guys like Otto Lopez, Jimenez, Taylor, Beltre, Pinto, etc. Of course some of these guys will not pan out or will get traded, but getting a CF prospect from within the farm system would be huge given the lack of available options and the difficulty to acquire them from outside the org.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 We need a future CFer. Can Groshans, Martinez or Moreno play there? Almost certainly not. You need to go down the depth chart quite a ways to find a viable CF. Chavez Young might be the first name where it's like, yeah he can play CF for sure. Samad Taylor and Otto Lopez might be able to hang there, but who knows. Zac Cook had big numbers in 2021 and played CF. There are a few other names like Cameron Eden and Dasan Brown, but they will never make it. It's a pretty big gap on the farm.

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 I don't think Austin Martin would of ever been able to stick in CF. Not even sure he could stick at SS, his actions were best at 3B.

Not even sure he could stick at SS, his actions were best at 3B. Hard to say whether the arm was going to play at the position though. If he ended up having to muscle up on every throw ala Cavan Biggio just to get it across the diamond that would be a tough fit for any amount of time.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 A little tidbit from Longenhagen Speaking of the Rockies, the little second baseman who they traded to Toronto as part of the Randal Grichuk deal, Adrian Pinto, has been added to the Blue Jays list. Scouts had a narrow window in which to scout him here in Arizona before the deal, but he made enough of an impression to prompt some unsolicited texts from scouts covering the Rockies who noted he was missing from their org list. Much more on him here, or over on The Board.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 Or Mexico, maybe? Maybe, their season starts sooner. I was just thinking he might get scouted better in Indy leagues in the states for the draft this year.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 Have they said where they are starting Groshans out? AAA? Most likely Buffalo, they haven't assigned him yet.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 Taylor getting the promotion to Triple-A. Hopefully he's able to force their hand for a cup of coffee in the majors at some point.
