Gotta take into account which filly he popped out of. It’s not all about the stallion semen

Picture a team with 5 Guerrero's. All different shapes and sizes. Some play the OF, maybe even get a middle infielder from one of them. Would be a pretty cool thing to see. Might give us an inside track with their kids as well. By 2075 we could have a 40-man roster comprised of just Guerrero's great-grandchildren.

Lol. 5 sons 4 daughters

Multiple 15 year old sons of the Vlad.... dude swung quite a heavy bat all over the field.

This kid has a much leaner build. That thick lower half is notably absent.

Extrapolating the sexual prowess and # of partners of Vlad Sr, if that trend continues you could have an entire minor league system full of Vlad Guerrero the Vs

Blue Jays effectively trade Tanner Kirwer (picked by Seattle) for Abdiel Mendoza (picked from Rangers) in the Rule 5 draft.

Mendoza's a small righty who hasn't gone above A ball. My guess is they see a conversion opportunity turning him into a long man/lower-leverage RP.

Kirwer has interesting legs as a 4th OF type and is closer to majors, but not a lot of bat there, and obvious OF logjam.

Book is that Mendoza has great feel for the curve & started to miss a lot more bats last year, and obviously clearer path/area of need if he's an RP.

Jays also lost Curtis Taylor to Nationals, a 26-year old fastball/slider/changeup guy who split last year in AA/AAA in the pen.

I don't know man. From that picture, the kid looks like he has tree trunks for legs.

Yeah but the trunks look like more muscular in the thighs, not starting with the wide hips like Vlad Sr and Jr

This was just the minor league portion of the Rule V draft in case anyone was wondering. The major league portion cannot happen without a CBA, and that's where Spraker is eligible to be taken.

Can we replace Buck w/ that play-by-play guy? I don't even care if he speaks English, Buck barely does...

Reading this profile about Otto Lopez: https://futurebluejays.com/2021/12/13/toronto-blue-jays-top-ten-prospects-6-otto-lopez/

Got me thinking, is it likely that the Jays value Lopez similarly (or even higher) than Austin Martin? They have incredibly similar profiles: contact-first, versatile, high-OBP, except that Lopez has proven he can do it at a higher level and has better defensive reviews. It does seem like Otto Lopez might've made Austin Martin a little redundant on the depth chart. That, plus the extension makes the Berrios trade all the more better. It's definitely aged better as time has gone on.

I don't think Otto Lopez had anything to do with the decision to trade Martin.

Martin - you are hoping he can be a cornerstone player.

Lopez - you are hoping he can find any type of MLB role.

Lopez is garnering attention from a lot of different prospect evaluators right now, including being mentioned in a piece from the Athletic. It mentions that he has been playing above average defence in center field.

SS Otto López

Age: 23

Stats: 17 G, .231/.275/.308, 2 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 4 BB, 12 K

López is a top Blue Jays prospect who made his major-league debut this past season, playing in just one game, and he impressed with a strong performance for Gigantes del Cibao. He was only there for 17 games beginning Nov. 6 and he started cold. But after six games, he started on a 13-for-39 streak that included a double and a homer. He also played above-average defense in center field, the evaluator said. Here he is closing a ton of ground and robbing Albert Pujols of what might have been a double.

Yeah I like him as a possible contributor. He seems versatile and has some tools including the most important one.
