Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 Yes, I just wanted to point out the Halos likely have another albatross contract. $35M a year to 2027...... Rendon was the 5th best positional player in baseball last year. The guy is a f***ing stud offensively and defensively with a long track record. Unless you're assuming he's going to be injury prone - I'm not sure why you're predicting his demise as a superstar player.

Ray Verified Member Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 Austin Martin not playing for the 2nd consecutive game after he was pinch hit for on the 15th. Hope it’s nothing serious.

But I still predict that Contract is likely to become an albatross. Nothing against Rendon as a player.

It's a bit of an overpay, but the contract ends in his age 36 season. Springer is being paid until age 36 too. I like our number better for Springer, but it must make you nervous Jim.

spats Verified Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Manoah was supposed to start tonight for Buffalo but Zoinks started instead. Anyone know the reason for the change?

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2021 Author Posted May 19, 2021 Don't look now but Otto Lopez has an OPS of .996 and his batting avridge is .400

Jim - almost every FA contract becomes an albatross at some point. You get to add one of the very best players in baseball instantly. You don't have the crapshoot or the time it takes to drafting and development. You also don't have to give up prospect capital like you do via trade. Dealing with a someone who is overpaid and underperforming for the last year or 2 of the contract is the price you pay to get 4 or 5 great years from a great player who cost nothing but $.

That's obvious, mate.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Taking into account age and level, Moreno is having one of the best offensive seasons among all minor leaguers so far. Anyone at his age range or younger that is doing better is at a lower level of the minors. Only person on this list that clearly impresses me more than Moreno is Francisco Alvarez of the Mets. Insane numbers there.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Zeuch keeps getting lit up in AAA, which is good, because it lessens the chance that we'll ever see him on the Jays again.
Ray Verified Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Zeuch keeps getting lit up in AAA, which is good, because it lessens the chance that we'll ever see him on the Jays again. Yeah, god forbid we root for one of our own players to figure something out and pitch well. That would really suck given our pitching situation. Not only that, but what you said was also factually incorrect. "Keeps getting lit up in AAA", when he actually had a 2.70 ERA coming into todays start, and has also had respectable enough numbers in AAA in a large sample
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Oops I googled his MILB stats but it was his MLB stats I was looking at.
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 He's had two starts in AAA this year, and has: 12 IP 16 hits 9 earned runs 7 walks 6 K's 1.92 WHIP 6.75 ERA and is 0-2 Two starts and he's gotten "lit up" both times. He's terrible and stats like that will keep him off the MLB roster which is a good thing, because he's not good. Those are his MLB stats doofus.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Those are his MLB stats doofus. Yeah I seen that and edited already. Honest mistake, I was looking at his MILB page but it was his MLB stats.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Anyone else going to mentioned that they bumped Manoah so he is line with Striplings spot in the rotation. That can't be a coincidence lol

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Nice Would love to see them piggyback I think it is more likely they would piggy back Stripling and Kay wouldn't they?
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Stripling and Kay both with excellent starts last time out, Matz too. Manoah and Pearson banging on the door, Hatch about to return from the IL... Things looking up for the rotation, which is huge because right now with all the injuries it feels like the bullpen is being held together with duct tape.
