Is there any reason to get excited about Biggios starts at AA

Probably not, but one day i still hope to see a game of the Jyas with Dwight Smith Jr, Vlad Jr, Cavan Biggio, Bo Bichette and Kacy Clemens in the lineup at the same time. 5 2nd gen players on 1 field for the same team would be cool to see.

Gurriel Jr kinda counts too.

A good spring training lineup.

To be fair, the longest shot in that list is Clemens and 3 of them are all but a lock to be on the team next year at some point barring trades or catastrophic injury

None. One tool players typically don't go very far.

Except for infielders with a hit tool.

Biggio is a B prospect

He's the type of prospect that nobody cares about until he comes out of the Giants' system and has a 4 WAR season

This is pretty awesome response. Same reporter who said Ohtani is not ready for MLB.

Or turn into Ben Zobrist.

I can definitely see Biggio being a 400+ PA utility guy.

Well, he doesn't really play 2nd all that well or have an arm so it's difficult to give him any value when you can't play the easiest infield position well.

Exactly. If he can play an alright 2B and hit .280 or better he's a Joe Panik type 2B.

I saw him play in Vancouver quite a few games. His feet aren't quick enough and he has a below average arm. He's a boxscore prospect not a realistic one.

See that's what I thought. A lot of similarities than I saw the 140 strikeouts. It would be lovely if he turned into something. But hes pretty limited defensively to be a good utility player. He really only profiles at second base. They have tried using him at third but he doesn't have the arm to play 3rd Base at the next level.

Are you talking about Duffy and Panik?

I had never really thought about this before, but wow, it sounds like it really sucks to be a minor-leaguer.

Bats and good gloves are expensive as hell too.

Yep. Bats are usually a couple hundred each for something decent, and they break all the f***ing time. I honestly don't know how these guys (especially career minor leaguers) can get by financially.

Minor leaguers get treated like s***. The players union needs to do something.

Yep, there needs to be a MILB union for players. That's ridiculous.

I would pour money into equipment, nutrition and training for the players in the minors. Seems like a competitive advantage.

It seems so bizarre that teams don't do this. What are we missing?

Probably the same old thing, money. It's probably a weird dynamic too given that the major league teams don't own the minor league teams their players play for.

My thoughts exactly. Eating correctly is so important for young persons development. I would hope they change this is the next 5-10 years. Each minor team should have a personal chef preparing atleast a couple meals a day for the team.

I know I would I want my top prospects eating correctly and not only that provide them knowledge and information about how they should be fueling their body throughout the season.

I agree, but the main reasons are it saves money for the MLB owners, the vast majority of MILB players will never succeed in the majors, MILB players aren’t part of the players union, MLB teams don’t own MILB teams.

Life as a minor leaguer is not fun. I bet some front office people believe this helps to build character too.

Incentive to succeed. Seems like the teams teach about nutrition, but don't pay for the food. Perhaps the thinking is the players that don't have the drive to succeed, who will invest in proper nutrition, etc, will fail anyway. So cut the losses.

Dennis Santana is pitching on MILB tv tonight at 8pm.

If you want to see what filth looks like. Dodgers SS prospect converted into a SP. He gunna be good.
