Bo's going to be legit offensively--just hope his defense is better than his father Dante Bichette (think Steve Pearce bad in the OF).

It's not humanly possible to be as bad as Dante in the OF. In 1999 he hit 34 bombs with a .298/.354/.541 slash line and posted a fWAR of... -2.1. League and park factors made the slash line worth just a 100 wRC+, and he paired that with a negative 40.6 def rating (!!!).

 

So yeah, no chance Bo is that anywhere near that bad.

Scouts believe he could be above average defensively at second base. But hes been proving he doesn't need to move off of Shortstop. He has plenty of arm to play SS as well. He may end up at third when all is said and done. I really do believe he will begin his career playing Shortstop for us. And that could be sooner rather than later.

It may depend on our organization's philosophy on the matter. More and more teams are willing to give up some defense to put stud hitters are premier defensive positions. Bogaerts and Correa are good examples.

Bichette can play an average to passable SS and I expect average to above average 2B. I'd like to see him get some reps in the OF, he has speed and a decent arm.

 

A guy that can hit like Bichette and play multiple positions is extremely valuable

So he's basically comparable to Vlad at the plate, anyone see reports on his OF D?

Two short reports on D:

 

 

On defense, Soto looks comfortable roaming the outfield. He is quick but not especially fast, typically taking consistent and efficient routes to fly balls. He has a solid arm, but not a prototypical right-field arm, and could end up in left as he climbs the ladder.

 

Defensively is not where Soto makes his name as a prospect, as his average speed and athleticism, along with fringe-average arm, allows him to play a reasonable but unexceptional right field. As he matures and receives additional game experience, I could envision his arm getting to average, as well as his overall defense in right field. However, if he loses much speed or range as he ages, he could profile better long-term in left field, where he would project as average or slightly better.

Eric A Longenhagen: Myers was acquired from Baltimore ahead of the 2017 trade deadline for Tim Beckham. He was a two-way player in high school who some teams preferred at shortstop, but early-career indications are that Baltimore was correct to stick him on the mound as Myers dominated the New York Penn League last year ahead of the trade and has already grown into mid-rotation stuff. Myers sits 92-94, touches 97, and it plays up due to good extension. His curveball and changeup each flash plus but are closer to average right now but they both project due to Myers’ athleticism. He’s a 6-foot righty but his vertical arm slot creates downhill plane on his pitches and he’s sturdily built, so his size is not concerning. He has mid-rotation upside and will pitch in full-season ball as a teenager all year.
