admin Site Manager Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Vladdy looking like his Dad in that vid, and not just from the number Was thinking the same. Haven't seen a ton of video of him, but never noticed it until this video.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Wow, that sound off the bat....
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 So that's what they mean when they say "the ball jumps off his bat".
43211234 Verified Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Should've kept him away from the HR derby imo. Probably cursed now and won't hit one the rest of the season.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 One thing I didn't notice when I posted this video earlier was that if you look closely, you realize that he's actually hitting the next home run well before the first even lands. There's a good 1 second+ of hang time left on the previous balls when he's already hitting the next ones. Cant imagine being in the stands at the park and having to keep track of two balls in the air at the same time. Crazy.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Jesus Christ... those are some cruise missiles. Might this be Vlad's MWL curtain call? Gotta think he's off to Dunedin any day now.
Clutchlings Verified Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Unlike his Dad, Vladdy doesn't chase a lot of pitches outside the strike zone. He generates incredible bat speed. His BP that I saw earlier in the season was a laser show.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) Let's suppose Vlad Jr gets called up in Sept. 2019 This will be the most exciting callup since??? A. JP Arencibia (don't laugh now, ppl were pumped) B. Brett Lawrie C. Roy Halladay D. Carlos Delgado (I'm one of the minority that is old enough to remember it. It was REALLY exciting) E. Someone else (name them) F. No one else. It's the biggest callup in Blue Jays history Edited June 20, 2017 by G-Snarls
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Assuming he keeps up a similar pace at higher levels, it will be an unprecedented call-up.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I like how Atlanta has pushed two of its young kids. Allard and Soroka (Canadian boy) both started in AA this year at 19, skipping high A, and have pitched quite well. I would hope that if the plan is to indeed keep Vlad and Bo in Lansing for a full season, that the Jays would follow a similar path next year with these two studs.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 2017 - starts in Lansing, ends in Dunedin 2018 - starts in Dunedin, ends in NH 2019 - starts in NH, ends in Buffalo, Sept call up? 2020 - starting 3b? That would make him a regular at age 21. Reasonable for a player of his ability. Obviously assuming everything goes well and no setbacks.

IMO he'll start in AA next year, unless he stumbles in A+ in the second half.

His BP that I saw earlier in the season was a laser show. I saw the same thing in Dunedin at the Mattick complex. Finally a bat to get excited about in Blue Jays land.

But given bloodlines, age, and performance, Vladdy might fall into F.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 IMO he'll start in AA next year, unless he stumbles in A+ in the second half. We can hope. I also hope Bo and Vlad play together all the way to the majors. Like Bo said yesterday in an interview, they compete against each other to try and produce better. That type of relationship will help boost potential success for the both of them going forward imo.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Can Vlad Jr. speak english? Not very well yet.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Not very well yet. Born in Montreal But he has he lived most of his life in the DR I presume?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Born in Montreal But he has he lived most of his life in the DR I presume? I'm just curious. Vlad Sr. seemingly gave zero f***s about learning the language, which irks me for some reason.

admin Site Manager Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Wait to see what he does before he's called up before calling it the most hyped call up. Right now would be the biggest since Travis Snider. He was a top 5-6 prospect in all of baseball.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 It is interesting the differences For example, as we all know, Jose Bautista speaks flawless English
Stoneyen Verified Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Old but really shows how Bo uses the entire field. Also has some impressive wheels on the triple
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) Born in Montreal But he has he lived most of his life in the DR I presume? Born in Montreal, yes. I assume he spent most of his life in the DR because he really doesn't speak English well (or well enough to really speak to the media or to fans) yet. Edited June 20, 2017 by P2F
