Bichette can actually hit for power, though, so yeah. Putting Revere next to Trout was just a bonerkiller.

I don't know about that. Ben Revere with some actual power and ability to take a walk would have been a monster. That's exciting to me.

Bichette has 11 home runs in 339 professional PA's. Revere had 11 home runs after 4,807 professional PA's. Revere's highest walk rate ever was 7.9% in 406 PA's in AA back in 2010. Bichette is walking at a 9.3% clip.

Yaya I know, I just worded that poorly.

Don't think this was posted but this is a solid video showing Bo's swings.

He is just out there to murder balls.

Indeed, love his 2 strike approach...

Looks like the next Adrian Beltre.

Bichette gets way too many off days for a 19 year old minor leaguer.

It's been stated that the org's plan for both Bo and Vlad this year is four games on, one game off. Hard to argue with the plan in light of the fruits so far. I'm guessing it's intended to be a mental break more than anything.

And here is one of Vlad Jr, same YT person/channel.

Batting practice first half and second half is in-game action.

Would love to know the reasons behind it. They also have stated that one level per year helps development but a quick google search isn't finding public studies on the subject. It seems like the top players in the game all jumped levels mid-season. Maybe they believe it to be true up to a certain age.

Maybe it's for them to work on various fundamentals w/o in game pressures to perform??????

It's hard to say. I guess it's fine to have a plan for players development, but if they're raking and their coches and player development people feel they no longer need to face that level of talent, then the plan needs to be adjusted.

I've heard many things from scouts and talking heads on podcasts and broadcasts that sometimes a team wants to ensure a player has gone through the league facing every team at least twice to see if they make adjustments that the other teams make against them. I've heard some teams want to ensure a guy has the experience of an all star game, or a playoff run when they've been with a team all year.

So it depends on what this FO values for their players. We've already seen Jansen and Jones get promoted, but the development plans for those 2 players might be completely different than the plans for Bo and Vlad. Seems to me the most right way of doing things would be that the team has a plan based on each individual player, and when circumstances change(for better or worse) the plan changes too.

To me, if the player is no longer being challenged by his level of competition and has been through the league enough to have seen and made adjustments to anything thrown his way, it's time to move up.

There are wayyy too many games during a season. For proper development you need rest days, just because the Majors has so many games doesn't mean players should be playing so much.

The Blue Jays have a large high perf. staff who know how much these guys should be playing. The last thing you want to do is wear them out.

I think they're just being extra cautious given its both Bo and Vlad's first-year in full season ball and they don't want fatigue in the latter parts of the season. Full season ball is a massive jump in games from high school or short season.

I'm fine with the off days for Bo. I don't like that he plays second base atleast once a week. Just keep him at Shortstop until he proves he can't stay there.

Thanks, didn't know they had a set plan. Felt like random and frequent off days. Makes more sense this way.

Obviously none of us are privy to the internal data they're basing this on. However, getting a prospect as many reps as possible to develop healthy mechanics and muscle memory is a pillar of traditional player development.

There are also decades of hard data which tell us that a player that successfully reaches the majors at a younger age is more likely to have a all-star/MVP/hall of fame career. Purposely limiting a young prospects ABs is a very unconventional approach.

I would assume and bet that this approach is actually to maximize their playing time, read: reduce injury risk.

It would be fun for Lansing fans to see Vlad bat leadoff and play 3B every single day, but not so fun when he goes down with a wear and tear injury and misses a month.

This front office wouldn't likely implement anything like this without data to support it.

Just another first round failure. The entire Double-A rotation has been such a disappointment.

Yeah, SRF has really taken a step back this season. Maybe it's a game calling thing?

On the bright side though, Jordan Romano looks fantastic.
