A lot of those stockier type SS get labelled as future 2B or corner guys. I guess the fear is that there will be range issues as they continue to add strength.

I can't say I've seen much about Bichette's defense or perceived future position since he was drafted, the bat has rightfully grabbed all the attention. Would definitely be nice if he can stay up the middle.

Well I could see if someone says he might have issues with his range, or footwork or arm but a thick lower half really doesn't mean anything. Josh Donaldson has a thick lower half and has great range, same with Tulo.

If Tulo was a prospect right now, all the scouts would be saying he'll end up at 3rd or LF. 100% guaranteed.

Y'all need to take a chill pill IRT to Bichette and 100 career AB's at low A and below....

He should join Hech as most overrated prospects of all time for bluejays.com forum..

I can't believe I was like all of you 10 years ago IRT to arencibia & snider, urgh

Hech couldn't hit anything. Arencibia drew few walks and struck out at every level despite being college-aged.

I've been following prospects for a long time now. I know that this is low minors, I'm not stupid. I'm also not blind enough to not realize that we're looking at a kid hitting .400+ with power all over the field and almost zero strikeouts...as a middle infielder. I saw him in that spring training game get jammed (or what looked like it) and he inside-outed the ball all the way off the wall in right-center. And that is the thing: he's not slapping the ball around and hitting .400 because he's outrunning poor defending on squibblers; he's been lacing balls going all the way back to last season.

One time in 2014 I won 5k in a day in poker, does that mean I'll win 5k every day? No

But it's more likely that you'll win 5k in poker the next day than someone who didn't ;)

Bichette can wait, let's get the Anthony Alford hype train moving. Guy is having an obscenely good year so far.

Anyone know why Pentecost was demoted to Vancouver

They wanted him to get some work in catching, so rather than putting him on the Dunedin team DL, they just assigned him to Vancouver. He caught today in extended spring and you can read his progress in my post ( news from Dunedin) They will re-assign him when Dunedin returns home this coming week. Expect him to catch some games next week for Dunedin Jays.

He has been fantastic to start the year. Maybe he is finally fully healthy and everything is coming into focus for him

We need a todd update

Alford = Adam Jones + plate discipline

Alford = Adam Jones + plate discipline

That would be a monster. I'd gladly take that. In his prime, with plate discipline, Jones could have been a 6+ WAR player. He was between 4-5, consistently, without it.

I'm not seeing the 30 HR power in Alford.

His swing isn't geared for that, but he has the body for it. I think 20 HR is a more reasonable ceiling.

Alford has to show more power or else the walk rates will trend down. It's easier to walk in the minors if you're the best hitter in the lineup but in the bigs he won't be and pitchers will be in the zone every pitch against him.

It's helping Alford so far that he has McBroom behind him in the lineup....it was a good move to get him out of the leadoff spot. I think we're all influenced by Alford's sideways numbers last year....if you go by the second half alone, you see improved pitch selection and power.

He's still learning, but I think the time in Arizona last fall did wonders for his game. Everyone in the org lauds his work ethic and commitment to getting better.

I would just throw last years numbers out the window as he was playing through numerous injuries. We will see what he can do this year, healthy. So far so good.

Lansing is on MiLB.TV tonight for those who have it. Palacios activated from the DL

Palacios and Woodman single on first pitch fastballs to start the game. Palacios scores on a wild pitch. Bichette hard fly out to CF which advances Woodman. Vlad Jr. worked count from 0-2 to 3-2 before being rung up by the umpire on a fastball low and away.

Andy Ravel struggling in the bottom of the 1st. HBP, walk, 3 hits. Olivares bobbled a groundball to RF and then lobbed it into 2B which allowed the runner to score at home, then threw home on a single to the OF which allowed the runner to advance to 2B. Ravel may not make it out of the first, already up to 40 pitches. Vlad lets a groundball to 3B on his backhand go under for a double and 2 runs.. now Ravel is out of the game.

He'll be up by the end of the month, whether it's to push Toles to 4th OF or replace A-Gon.
