Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Why the f*** are people so pent up about HFA? Seriously it won't matter in the first round and there is no promise the Royals will even get to the 2nd. Even if they do its not as if this team can't win on the road. The bigger underlining issue is Osuan. He's blown quite a few and doesn't inspire confidence heading into the postseason. That concerns me more than HFA. People love to complain about SOMETHING. Home field advantage doesn't matter, as it only comes into play if we face the Royals in the ALCS. Even then, its not a big deal. As for Osuna, it seems like he was tinkering today. Looked sharp with the fastball/change but he kept throwing the slider for some reason.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Ok, well our team didn't look like WS material tonight. Just saying. No Tulo, no Martin, our 4th best pitcher on the mound against one of the best pitchers in the AL. Played a good game but Osuna blew it. They looked good today.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 the league has figures out Osunas fastball. he needs to mix up his pitches more.
iloveparrotwalks Verified Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Every time we lose almost half of you freak out like the jays are doomed. Osuna had a brutal outing tonight but look at how well he's pitched this year. The guy's good and based on his season it seems that he'll do well for us post-season. One bad inning doesn't mean much. Show some support and stop thinking so emotionally!
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Another 1 run loss scoring 4 runs or less btw...

Show some support and stop thinking so emotionally! It's more the trend that we're worried about. More often than not lately he has been spotty with his control and has been giving up a lot of hard hit balls. That simply can't happen from your closer going into the post-season.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 No, cecil should continue his role as BP ace in high leverage situations. That's more important than the closer anyways. ....not sure I follow that logic given how tonight played out. We didn't need to use Cecil in the 8th...we could have used Lowe. Cecil could have closed.
Pinkfloid Verified Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I don't necessarily agree with HFA not meaning anything. Ideally in the first round you'd want to face the opposing team's Ace only once which the WC team would certainly only be able to field that one time mid-series. That being said any team who wants to win the WS needs to overcome adversity (and the past few seasons the WC teams have had all the playoff momentum it seems). I hope Osuna was only tinkering tonight, but it didn't look good regardless.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Nice heading into the playoffs on a losing trend...
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Big day tomorrow. And it's no guarantee we play Texas.. still a chance Houston can tie the Rangers if the Angels win tomorrow, which would force a 1-game playoff for the AL West.

This is not the first time the Board has raised these concerns even when he has eked out a save/W.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Nice heading into the playoffs on a losing trend... I wouldn't count the two Baltimore B lineup games.

Gibby: well you know he's done a great job for us all season he really has. He's our closer you know. He can't be perfect you know
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I'm afraid of Osuna now I think he is out if Gas

iloveparrotwalks Verified Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 The last 2 losses didn't effect the team at all. It was mostly all call ups. We played well tn. s*** happens.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 You know, Gibby and not playing his best players after we clinched is BS. Just my opinion.

Effit Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 You know, Gibby and not playing his best players after we clinched is BS. Just my opinion. I would have preferred some effort at winning the second game of the DH. Thursday was understandable.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Come on guys with this "on a losing trend" stuff. The Blue Jays are 3-1 on the road trip. The Bisons are 0-2. Osuna was shaky, but that just means Gibbons will be more fluid with the pen. It's what he should be doing in the postseason anyway.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 You know, Gibby and not playing his best players after we clinched is BS. Just my opinion. There's simply no way they were going to play the regulars in the second game of a double header (after we clinched) this time of the year.
baubau Verified Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 You know, Gibby and not playing his best players after we clinched is BS. Just my opinion. Why? Why are people so frustrated that he choose not to strain his players on a back to back? Who is to say they would have even won had they been there? This team was more interested in partying and I wouldn't blame them. The second game? I have no problem in letting them sit so they don't risk injury in the rain. The 2 Baltimore games were bad timing. The first night game should have happened and maybe things play differently, maybe not. No point in worrying about spilled milk.

We got f***ed over by the s***** weather. We still won the division and we're going to the playoffs, be happy people.

art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 so i heard it from Gibby in the PG - if B feels good, he starts; if not, it's Hutch
