Sites like StubHub and Vivid Seats are 100% trustworthy for buying tickets on the secondary market. As a buyer, I'd rather buy an expensive ticket on StubHub over an actual scalper or from someone on Kijiji, since the ticket you are purchasing is verified and legit. You would get your money refunded if the game isn't played.

you can still get screwed. If the seller f***s up you can not get in at the door. Only difference is you get your money refunded if your tickets don't work while Kijiji you can just get your money taken.

What do you mean "if the seller f***s up"? I thought I was buying the ticket from StubHub directly (and that they already have the ticket in their possession?)

Thanks dude! Let's say something happens a few days before the game and I can't make it-- can I sell the tickets? (Even though they're e-tickets only)

The seller could sell those same seats to someone on Kijiji. Then if the person on Kijiji beats you to the stadium first you wouldn't get in since someone already used the ticket to scan in the gate. Never had it happen myself but have had it happened to someone I knew at a Habs game.

Here are some examples that could happen just off the top of my head. Lets say if the seller has posted his/her tickets on both StubHub and Vivid Seats. Lets say those tickets were sold on StubHub first though minutes later they then were bought on Vivid Seats before the seller was able to remove them. I had this happen to me with Raptors tickets last winter, though Vivid Seats actually called my cell phone and said the seats I bought were no longer available because the seller already sold them previously. Also, if the seller has those seats listed on StubHub, though is also listing them on lets say Kijiji and finds a buyer who meets up and pays cash, and the seller forgets or doesn't remove those seats from StubHub, then yeah you could get screwed if that buyer from Kijijji scans his/her ticket first to enter the venue.

At least with StubHub or Vivid Seats, you have 100% protection guarantee when buying, so if you don't get into the venue, Stubhub will try to find you other similar seats or give you a refund. Thats the key rather than buying off someone from Kijijji or a scalper outside the ballpark.

Since Stubhub is a marketplace for tickets, you can always resell your tickets if you can't make it. I called asking about the Yankees/Blue Jays game in NYC because of the weather and if a game got postponed to a later date that I couldn't make, they said I'd be able to re-list those seats on their site.

No on stubhub you are buying from someone who 'claims' to have tickets to the game. NOBODY has tickets to blue jays playoff games right now as they have not been issued yet. People have been guaranteed the rights to tickets but that is it. There is a real chance that your tickets don't work when you go to the game OR you don't get any tickets at all even after paying BUT you are guaranteed your money back from stubhub. I know people that bought tickets off of stubhub and ended up getting screwed out of a jays game last minute before.

I prefer buying off kijiji personally. 1) I avoid a terrible USD to canadian dollar exchange rate 2) I can actually meet with the person I am buying tickets from 3) I can ask for any sort of reassurance I need and if they don't give it to me then I don't have to buy the tickets (e.g. proof of purchase, IDs, license plate info, facebook invite) 4) the tickets are GENERALLY cheaper

Damn. How did they get "guaranteed rights"? I guess they're season ticket holders and players' relatives or something?

So would it be wise for me to buy a pair of tix for the ALDS Game 1 right now?

True, there are ways to make sure that you are buying from a legit person. I've sold tickets on Kijijji, never have bought. I've usually showed them proof of purchase without them asking in the first place, like through my MLSE account, to show them that they were legit. Still, if I'm purchasing an expensive ticket to an event, I'd want to have that reassurance that if anything does go wrong, I'm guaranteed a full refund.

They just haven't made the tickets available for download yet, since I believe the Jays won't be doing so until October 1st or the date they know opponent/time they are playing etc.

Ticket prices are pretty high right now, so its really up to you on how much you want to spend and where you want to sit. There are so many tickets available right now on StubHub and Vivid Seats, so I wouldn't panic. Plus, if you don't know your schedule and lets say can't make an afternoon game at 3 or 4 PM, then you don't want the hassle of reselling them & possibly losing some money.

Ok but the seats on StubHub are pretty precise.. Example, I'm looking at a pair of seats in the 127 Level Infield section right now... Row 17, Seats #1-2... If they're not printed yet, then who is selling those specific seats? A season ticket holder?

Probably, or even someone who bought tickets today. I don't think there are any instant download tickets available just yet.

Hmm ok cool. Do you think it would be wise for me to get a pair of tickets on StubHub? How do I know if the seats are one next to the other?

Also-- did you get tickets yourself for the games?

I think if you're going to drop a pretty penny on tickets, I'd rather have that guarantee that StubHub or Vivid Seats offer. It will state when purchasing your tickets the row and the seat numbers. Unless you're buying 2 tickets in a block of 4 or 6 seats etc, you might not find out the exact seats until after the purchase, though your seats will be together regardless. Prices are quite high right now and like I said there are so many tickets available. You might be able to luck out and find a deal like burlingtonbandit did tonight on Stubhub for a cheap 100 level seat if you're checking every hour. Theres no harm in being patient and waiting closer to the date. Tickets that sellers don't move will come down in price as the date gets closer. If there was a limited market on Stubhub for tickets right now, then thats another story.

I managed to grab a single for Game 1 in 113A, two scattered seats in 516 for Game 2 and another 500 level seat for Game 3 on the Blue Jays website. Also, I have a pair for one game per series via the person I bought my flex pack through, though I don't know which game yet I'll get. So I'll likely have some extra tickets available to sell for one of the games in the ALDS (possibly that pair I get) and for sure for Game 2.

Cool man. Thanks again for your help! But-- if I buy 2 tickets in a block of 2, they should be one next to the other, right?

So for instance, are these seats one next to the other? Do they mean seats #9 and 10 of Row 37? (Therefore one next to the other?) Sorry for being a StubHub noob.pic.png

Starting to think I should just buy tickets to every September home game in 2016. Should be a healthy supplement to my income. With benefits for the post season, it might even be worth splurging on 500-level season tickets early on...

Please don't talk about that pathetic organization in here, the Leafs are a joke and I am sorry but anyone that supports that s***** product is a loser.

This is the second time I've seen you jump down a poster's throat for posting a completely innocuous personal experience about going to a game with a family member. Both times you've gone out of your way to hurl insults for absolutely no good reason.

What is your problem?

What the f*** is your problem? In the hockey thread you called me an ******* at 4 AM and send me a f***ing ridiculous email no reason? Is it because I said "Go Habs" earlier lol? What the hell did I do to offend you?

Yeah they would be next to each other, so you're good!

Honestly you are better buying a 10-game flexpack (2 seats per game) and picking all the good promotion games including Canada Day.

Best IMO is to get a 20 game voucher pack. That way you have the option to change # of seats per game. This year I bought one, 4 seats for 5 of the most premium games. I took the family to 3 of the games, sold the other 2 games easily to guys at work, and am now reaping the benefits of the playoff tickets.

I used to buy flexpacks, but about 5 years ago I switched to voucher packs for the added flexibility in terms of number of seats and have not looked back.

Agreed, those are a much better option in terms of flexibility. Tiny bit more expensive on a per ticket basis, but well worth it.
