Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Yeah, the jays hit Tanaka hard earlier this year too. Dickey has been the best he's been in a jays uniform as of late too. On top of that, R.A has started off slow the past few seasons and finished up really strong. If you look at his starts the past few years, past the all star break he's kept his team in just about every game. He's a competitor and I think he'd be the first to tell you he's disappointed in how things have gone thus far. I don't mind having him on the mound in a game to start off a series like this. I have loads of faith in him with the way he's pitched lately and if he does s*** the bed? It won't be for a lack of heart, that's for sure. Yeah, it's all about that velo increase and command of the KB, as hard as that is. He's been lights out. Of course he cares, he wants a ring.
93 Jays Verified Member Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Yeah, I was saying in another thread as well that when he mixes in his fastball a bit more, he keeps guys off balance a bit more. At least tice in his last start, he hit 84 or better with it. If he spots it and gets the velocity he needs on that KB, he'll get even better as the season ends. I just think he needs to show that fastball a bit more but keep it out of the middle of the plate.

Dickey was fantastic last night, he did everything to keep us in there until we finally pulled it out.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Dickey pitching like an ace. Things are sure looking good for the Jays.

He did suck to start the year but man has he has been on a serious roll giving us quality innings to let this offense do their thing. This was a big game last night and he showed up...again. He's pitching amazingly. Was his last bad outing in early June? Maybe May? Right now, *if* we make playoffs (lots of ball yet) I'd have him second in the rotation, before MB. It's nice we have a relatively cheap $12M option on him for 2016. Incidentally, Dickey's ERA is finally under 4.00 (it's 3.93).
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I was one of the guys that wanted the team to drop Dickey like a bag of s***, so I'm stoked that he's turned it around in such a big way. I'm actually very impressed that he was able to shut the Yankees down like he did, I thought they might be able to square up the knuckler after just having seen Wright a few days ago. With how badly they seem to be failing against knuckleballers, I wouldn't be against the team trying to line up Dickey starts with the Yanks like they're doing for Price.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Rolling Rolling Rolling.... Now if only Cy Hutch would join the Party! Wow

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I too have hated Dickey and for this I am sorry! Lol
fapaholic Verified Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I too was really down on Dickey and didn't want any part of him next year. Suddenly he's become the pitcher we wanted all along. Hopefully he keeps it up and helps propel the team into the playoffs. A Price, Dickey & Buerhle rotation suddenly looks pretty good in the playoffs.
Spitfire Verified Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I can't believe they are only 2.5 games back now this team is unreal!!!!
jays76 Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Author Posted August 9, 2015 I can't believe they are only 2.5 games back now this team is unreal!!!! Since the start of this week we've chopped the deficit from 6 to 3. If we can win tomorrow we'll be in great shape to make a run at claiming this division.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I can't believe they are only 2.5 games back now this team is unreal!!!! More like 4 back because the Yanks have played three less games than us.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Against the teams after us that they'll be facing, yeah.
BlueBirdBro Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Hutch isn't going to win next series. Gotta get that clutch sweep.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Dickey had a rough start no question but the warmer weather only helps the knuckle ball and we have heard that all year long
nextyear Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Things are looking good right now. Who would have thought 10 days ago that the Blue Jays would get to 60 wins with only 52 losses. If the Blue Jays continue to do well against the Yankees for the remainder of the year then I think another 30 wins (and 20 losses) might win the East division.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Ask not if the Blue Jays can catch the Yankees, but if the Yankees can hold off the Blue Jays.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Can the Yankees hold off the Blue Jays? Nope.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Catch em, skin em and wear them as suits (who dosen't look good in a pinstripe suit) and caps ! FYSMC Damn Yankees, pfft
93 Jays Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 The thing for me is that I keep forgetting how potent our lineup actually is. The addition of Tulo makes our top 5 one of the scariest lineups in baseball history. I think the Jays go 2-1, but a lot hinges on the Dickey start tonight. As it goes nowadays, if our guys hold the other team under 5 runs and Gibby doesn't mismanage the pen, these guys are a serious threat to score 5 or more every single game. If we win tonight, I think 2 of 3 is a pretty good bet Jeez, I hit the nail right on thread didn't I? Is tooting my own horn illegal here? Ha, hopefully Estrada holds up your end of the deal on this one Spanky!
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 10 games left vs the Bombers. 6-4 or 7-3 is what we need to aim for. Tough finale game next weekend with Severino vs Hutch.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I said it would happen by Labour Day. Looks like I was being kind. The real question now is: Can the Jays knock the Yankees right out of postseason contention?
Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Well, I was being a bit flippant, but they can certainly play a role in hurting the Yankees postseason hopes. Realistically, Jays still have their work cut out for them, as do the Yankees. It's not like the O's are fading, and Tampa is still lurking in the bushes.
Hipfan Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Was checking out the nyfans.com forum for the Yankees, and there's a lot of talk about how they hope they hold onto the WC, let alone the division. Now there is a lot of baseball to be played, and Jays fans should know to be cautious, but man does it feel good to be in this position! Yankee fans were not at all happy about this series (nor should they be), and a lot of them don't think too highly of their team.

They can avoid this if they start Buehrle game one against Oakland and Hutch goes game two. Buehrle would then get the Yankees that game. If they don't do it, they're crazy IMO.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I was looking at tickets for next weekend against the yankees Friday, saturday and sunday have already been sold out Great name
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
