BTS Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Without an extension.... yes, but it's understandable. When you paint yourself into a corner, you get bent over Would anyone actually want an extension?
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 We have a chance to do something we haven't done in the last 22 years Which is what? To play one game???? Really?
aselvana Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I'm gonna laugh at all you idiots who love this when Price is succeeding elsewhere and Norris is being a stud in Detroit while the jays have nothing to show for it. jays would have a 2015 world series banner to show for it......
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Ride his ass in to the ground. Throw him every 3 days Gibby and limp in to a wildcard spot. Then let the Yankees sign his worn out arm for 230M.
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Stroman is coming back soon so Price-Buehrle-Stroman-Estrada-Dickey looks good to me

vanland Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Considering what we now have: it's an automatic two wins against the starts we have to face if he was a Yankee. We're now in second wildcard territory at least. If we lock them up in Rogers coughs up the money for an extension (like they said they do), then I have no problem with this. Wow David Price is a Jay
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 And let's remember, physicals still have to happen. Look at last night's Mets/brewers dumpster fire.

There are no signs that Norris will turn into a stud. I'd put my money on him turning into an average starter. I don't love it but it's not crippling like d'Arnaud and Syndergaard for Dickey. This is not nearly as bad.

jayswin11 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Let's just sit back and enjoy the ride now. Should be an exciting rest of the season. We've been crap for 20+ years. Hopefully we win the World Series in 2015 and make it all worth while. Since we won't have a pitching staff next year we can reload the farm my trading EE and Jose.
baubau Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Would anyone actually want an extension? A Hamels like extension? For sure. A Scherzer like contract which is what Price will be looking for, no.

GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Got to give AA credit, hes assembling the greatest team to ever miss the playoffs.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Would anyone actually want an extension? I'd be happy with that. He should be really good for a few years still, the back end would be bad but by then they will be starting a rebuild. Whether that's the right way to run a team is another question.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 After 22 years I'll take that one game My fear is another team gets hot and we don't make that one gamev
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Yeah I think people have been ignoring Norris' numbers in Buffalo. Yeah he has age on his side but still. He would've dropped a few spots if he kept this up. This is true, but this is also the normal course for many great pitchers. A lot take a bit longer than expected. He does not have the ceiling of Hoffman but still, both those players should have a lot of prospect value.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 People forget that Alford is still basically a lottery ticket. I would have been more than fine with him or Norris but both seems steep and I just figured after the Tulo trade that AA would only cash in his chips for someone with at least 2016 control. This is risky as f***. Can't see AA keeping his job if they still miss the playoffs after this. Yeah I feel the same way. I guess if I had the choice between AA doing nothing or doing this...I'd choose this. Wish he got better value but I can live with this rather than him becoming a Yankee.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Any chance Price would sign a 1 year extension for like $30-35m? If he walks next year at least you get a first rounder back. No He is getting Kershaw money
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Just saw a really good point form one of the pundits.... Look,at all the prospects/players that AA has given up in past few years for Buerhle, Dickey, Reyes, Donaldson, Tulo and now Price.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 who the hell is Borucki? Someone not nearly close enough to the majors to get invested in what the parent club is doing.

CHRIS Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 At this point, I don't even really care what we give up (within reason), even though I probably should. If it's Norris + Alford, I can live with that. Even if Price walks next season, with Stroman and Osuna perhaps in the rotation, I think we'll be fine. The other component is that over the last couple of years, it seems like Toronto has turned itself into a pretty hip place to want to play. Whether it's the #WeTheNorth stuff, or Stroman and his endless promotion of the city...I wouldn't put it past this organization to be able to add in the offseason if Price bolts.
