FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 That's what's floating around. If LA was willing to give up Julio, Price is a Dodger last week. Absolutely. I just hope it isn't Stroman. Norris and Alford is okay. We could use Cespedes.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Someone stop Morosi, he's really embarrassing himself more then usual
baubau Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Are most people against this??? Are most people against trading the top prospects for a rental, that will likely bolt in 2 months and if not be signed to a franchise crippling contract? Yes. Yes they should be.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Other teams seem to be getting rentals cheaply but if thus is getting done this quickly I am scared to see what we gave up. I hate the idea of rentals. Obviously AA has talked about their "equation" to see if it is worth it and never seems keen on rentals, so we can only hope it isn't too bad.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 we all feared AA would go all crazy with his job on the line. He was doing a good job of NOT doing that until now... f***.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 f*** you Runs differential
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Who woulda thought less than a year ago we could have Donaldson, Martin, Tulowitzki and Price.
Swervin81 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 This is so... like, against everything AA does. Like, he must have some assurance that ownership would let him throw the dump truck of cash at Price and go past that 5 year limit (which he was allowed to do on acquiring Tulo, sooo...). I mean, we're at .500 right now, it's no guarantee we make it to the dance.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I'm resigned that we will lose Norris and one of either Pompey or Alford, probably Alford.

baloojayz Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 How would extending an ace be franchise crippling? A 25m contract won't sink any team with a decent payroll Point being, if you can extend him/negotiate with him, you are probably paying more (ala Dickey trade) both in prospects to Detroit and dollars to Price, so why not just go after him in FA.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Are most people against trading the top prospects for a rental, that will likely bolt in 2 months and if not be signed to a franchise crippling contract? Yes. Yes they should be. Other rentals have gone pretty reasonably but one of Alford Pompey or Norris will be gone and I think any are too much for a rental.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Stroman + For Price, Sanchez, Cespedes...possible

jays76 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I think the Dodgers are ok with Latos & Wood now, just in it for fun. The Yankees are obviously trying to drive up the price (no pun intended) on the Jays. It's probably between us and the Giants. AA has the means to make a move and probably has a hard on for Price.. Unfortunately having 6 hours combined sleep over the past 3 days might lead him to an overpay.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 And I'm saying why is is more ok to overpay with an extension? It should be the same cost regardless. If they pay a shitload for him, it's an egregious overpay whether they extend him or not (and they won't, guaranteed.) FWIW Price uses RA Dickey's agent Bo McKinnis. As we all know Bo and the Jays worked out a pre-trade extension to bring RA over. Could be the same thing here.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Whatever the cost is going to be for Price, it would be a lot easier to stomach if Cespedes was also involved in a deal.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 We killed the Tigers IMO in the Travis/Gose trade. Lets do it again
LTR Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 This is f***ing depressing. Selling more of the farm for a chance (not even a good chance) at the 2-WC.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Whatever the cost is going to be for Price, it would be a lot easier to stomach if Cespedes was also involved in a deal. Bingo.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Whatever the cost is going to be for Price, it would be a lot easier to stomach if Cespedes was also involved in a deal. I agree. Cespedes in Left and Smoak at first would not only give us an elite O but also elite D
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 One thing we can take solace in is that AA has twice now been able to build up the farm system from crap to great in just a couple years. GM playing to his own strength. But ugh.
TRM Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 This isn't the case, but would you guys be comfortable with Norris for Price?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 How would extending an ace be franchise crippling? A 25m contract won't sink any team with a decent payroll We are paying Buehrle that now...give that s*** to Price in a heartbeat
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 This isn't the case, but would you guys be comfortable with Norris for Price? Nope
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Yeah srsly, when was the last time a reporter who said the Jays were going hard after someone was correct? NEVER Dickey
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I agree. Cespedes in Left and Smoak at first would not only give us an elite O but also elite D Imagine that lineup vs LH? Gearing up for Kershaw in the world series.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I am scared to look at and see this deal when done, but a lil excited too! omg !
