- replace reyes

- Replace Gibbons

- Call up Pompey

The only thing that concerns me is that after they gave up Hoffman and Castro, you still have to assume they're going to look for more pitching, which means even more of the farm will be dealt. I really hope this doesn't turn into a 2012 thing.

 

Or maybe they're thinking of flipping Tulo? There's probably a really low chance of that, but it could be a possibility.

Let's see, Jose Reyes is a bad defensive SS with a .322 OBP and little power making $22M. Good luck trading him, Rockies.

 

They won't trade him... just like they couldn't trade Tulo after this season from the 10/5 rule. They basically cut their guarantees in half and in 2.5 years will have money and likely 2 young pitchers who are contributing at the MLB level. It's not a bad move by Rockies. Not to mention they aren't going to be competitive for the next couple years anyway.

I'm just glad AA didn't trade off prospects for a one year rental. This is very exciting, and even helps the bullpen a little. Now, we just need to pick up one more starter, and we're looking playoff bound.

I expect AA to go all in, and give up any remaining prospect stock we have left. His contract is on the line and he doesn't give a f, about the Jays chances five years from now.

 

I will say that AA has been doing an excellent job of scouting and drafting pitchers.

I am just so f***ing happy that Reyes is gone.....his nonchalant "who-f***ing-cares-if-we-win-let's-all-just-have-a-bunch-of-f***ing-laughs" attitude made me want to donkey kick him in the back in front of a bus. I can't imagine that that kind of attitude played well for Donaldson and Martin etc.

Are you serious? Physicals are always part of the trade, no trade or signing can be completed without one.

If they flipped Tulo, they would need another shortstop... if that was the plan, they would have just kept Reyes and gotten $$ relief from Colorado. Plus, Tulo has a full no-trade now lol

By Physicals I mean an actual exam. Exams are not compulsory. The exchanging of medical information is expected, though.

I understand, but if they still expect to give up legitimate prospect value for a pitcher, does the upgrade from Reyes to Tulo justify the price of Hoffman+? Hoffman could have been a key piece in a trade for a big arm.

I don't understand the casual dismissal of Castro. He still a young guy who throws extremely hard. If he was still dominating A+ as a starter like he should be, we would all be excited about him. Aggressive promotions shouldn't diminish him as a prospect. I'll miss him more than Hoffman to be honest.
