L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Still need someone better than Drew Hutchison to throw the WC game. That's my biggest concern.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Wow. I really think people are way underrating Castro. He is really going to be a great pitcher and we will probably really regret losing him. People forgetting how young he is. But Tulo!!!! And no more Reyes!!
Caper Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Jays jerking of Castro has come to an end. From A ball starter to MLB spring training standout to being handed the Jays closer role.. then sent down to buffalo as a RP, DL for a while, Dunedin as a RP, back to Buffalo... This orgs handling of Castro was awful, to say the least Put hair on his chest.
tpurewal97 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 after all this Felix Doubront is still tomorrow's starter ...for now

We will really be screwed next year when MB leaves. We really need Norris to step up and somebody (maybe Osuna) to be moved to the rotation. We definitely gave up two great pitching prospects but it is pretty great we got Tulo and maybe got some extra money to spend.

There is no way alex doesn't get some form of an pitching upgrade before the deadline passes, and given his track record it's doubtful it will be just a rental. Hes very mindful of this window starting to close after 2016

guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Oh we gave up Hoffman, I thought Castro was the centrepiece. This kinda bites but a lot of it depends, if Tulo can have 2/3 MVP like seasons I think this trade will be amazing. If he just gets injured for the next 5 years and puts in little to no production this could be catastrophic, I'll reserve my judgement until after I see Tulo play.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Is turf proven to cause more injuries? There's so many various kinds of turf, it's hard to say. Many indoor AND outdoor soccer and football stadiums seem to be using artificial turf now, so it can't be that bad. It's not like this is the carpet we used to have in Skydome.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Our lineup is basically the 2011 rangers now.
Caper Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 if Hoffman turns out to be nothing special I can live with that, if he turns into another Thor I wanna some produckshun outta Tulo I never get this attitude. Well I guess I get it, but it's totally wrong headed IMO. If you had a choice between him having a productive career or an unproductive career, why hope for unproductive? So we can say we one the trade in 5 years? I hope he does great. It looks good on AA, he deals quality.
nextyear Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I am amazed that AA was able to find a team willing to take Reyes. It will be interesting to see if the Rockies will be able to move him to another team but this article seems to say that it will be difficult - http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/60910/blue-jays-make-nice-upgrade-at-shortstop-with-tulowitzki In all fairness to Reyes, I thought it was his return from the DL that sparked the Blue Jays to their 11 game winning streak this year.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 ^ after the full 5 years? that probably isnt an unlikely scenario
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 http://www.bluejaysplus.com/jays-trade-tulowitzki-rockies/
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 who needs left handed hitters and pitchers anyways? just load up on right handed power hitters. I'm sure that will work. I wonder if AA plans to flips him for pitching?
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Technically Tulo is costing the jays 28 million this year...you know on the account of Ricky Romero's contract
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 A few thoughts on this trade: 1. Were Tulo's numbers not inflated playing in Colorado? 2. With the acquisition of Hawkins, is it possible Sanchez now joins the rotation as 5th starter?
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Tulo in (DH, SS) = Edwin out Edwin getting moved?
