KinofChaos Verified Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I think I can address this. I don't think Storen was available today. Part of the problem he had with setting up in Washington was being up warming up and than not entering the game. Storen pitched Monday and warmed up last night. He would have pitched the 8th but Cecil gave up the home run. You noticed that Osuna was up and would have pitched the 9th today. My guess is Cecil and Storen were not available today. So the trouble was getting the ball to Osuna. This week is clearly an audition/competition between Leon and Biagini. My guess is that this seals giving Biagini a longer look and DfA for Leon when Estrada comes off DL. You had to see what you had in Leon. You don't have to take a look at Leon in that situation with the game on the line, and Storen could not come in to get 2 outs with an off day tomorrow? BS, gibby just being a moron.

You had to see what you had in Leon. - If Storen can't warm up, not come into a game, and then pitch the next day... then he basically can't be an MLB reliever. They shouldn't (and wouldn't) have traded for him if that was true. - They really did not need to see what they had in Leon in that high leverage situation. One relief outing teaches you nothing about a guy anyway. If they DFA him now because he blew it today, that's worse than simply DFAing him without having a look.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Why wait until Estrada comes back. Perfect time to demote Leon is now. This would give the team the luxury of an extra position player to help deal with whatever's going on with Saunders and Donaldson. The team we'll have a fully rested bullpen by friday anyways so it's not like Leon will be needed. Ceciliani on the bench or even better, in left field if Saunders isn't 100%
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 9, 2016 Author Posted April 9, 2016 On the verge of 3 straight losses after leading in the 7th inning or later...all because Gibby is the worst manager in the host or of baseball
KinofChaos Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 This is a 5-0 team with a sensible manager.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 This is a 5-0 team with a sensible manager. f***ing stop. How about you mention the bullpen being garbage.
goldbug103 Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Could i know why Morales was NOT brought in to face Holt ???
goldbug103 Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 and here comes yet another 1 run loss. already 0-2 in those.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 9, 2016 Author Posted April 9, 2016 In game 3 he literally brought in the RP with longest scoreless streak in MLB, who promptly hit a batter and gave up a dinger. Blame the manager. He brings in gas can Storen to face 2 RHB, 2 hits. Cecil for Papi. Hit. Hit Hit Hit. I'll give you Arnold Leon. The game was lost from bringing in the long reliever to face the lefty instead of the left my specialist...who had warmed up. 4 runs right there
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Could i know why Morales was NOT brought in to face Holt ??? I don't think anyone has an explanation for that? Everyone pitched except Morales. Weird. I mean it was an off day yesterday so no reason why he wouldn't be available and he's had almost no work to this point anyways.
KinofChaos Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Is Gibby worth the Ned Yost? Worst manager in baseball?

Nafro Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Try second guessing, knowing the facts. Its just like Storen wasn't available the other night. We have lost because the pitchers haven't executed and the batters have stranded too many runners. The manager cannot control this.

That alone has made a huge difference.

There's a bunch of stuff going on behind the scenes that we aren't seeing
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 You know what. The whole off season Shapiro and Company ignored the bullpen. Well this is what you get
500LevelSTH Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 No, actually. Pitched 0.1 IP in apr 5 and apr 6 vs TB... 7 pitches... 0.2 innings
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 You know what. The whole off season Shapiro and Company ignored the bullpen. Well this is what you get They brought in Chavez as a potential long man or starter. They brought in Storen. They didn't ignore it. It's just that their moves aren't looking so hot right now. Hendriks is missed but it's still early. Bullpen was a tire fire at the start of last year and eventually things settled down (at least until the Cecil injury in the playoffs which created further turmoil).
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Pitched 0.1 IP in apr 5 and apr 6 vs TB... 7 pitches... 0.2 innings Holy f***. I'm losing my mind. That's what I saw the first time I checked Baseball Reference and when I checked again I didn't see it.

Hendriks hasn't been good so far so not missing much with him rn

Could come down to whoever has the most rest since it's just for the single game.

Hurt himself warming up, why is Gibbons getting blamed for this loss?(not directed at you guys, just folk in this thread tonight)

mtljaysfan Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 f*** Gibbons. That's all I want to say. His bullpen management has been awful for quite some time. f*** AA for re-hiring him, and f*** Shapiro for keeping him. We would've had a real chance in ALCS with an able manager last year. People say manager doesn't win games, maybe but a bad manager does lose games.
