Laika Community Moderator Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Bullpen management was a little suspect tonight. I agree. Should have gone to Hendriks first out of the pen and asked him for two innings. Big lead, two more games before a day off, would have been nice to give Sanchez and Osuna a breather.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 We do have a good guy out there tomorrow to end it I think. The knuckleball, when it is on and moving well, is not something that they will be able to square up on with any sort of consistency. As long as Dickey minimizes his walks I have a feeling he'll be able to keep those bats relatively quiet tm. If the knuckleball is working and the defense doesn't f*** up, the swing happy Royals could look silly. 90 pitch CG for Dickey?

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Bringing in Hendriks, then giving Hendriks the quick hook, then going to Osuna. 1. Neither Hendriks or Osuna should've been brought in to start the ninth. 2. Once Hendriks was in, he should've stayed in. No need to bring in Osuna. 3. Hawkins could have easily finished this game. 1. If you are going to use Sanchez I would have given him the next inning with that lead...and not used Lowe. 2. Hendriks should have finished the game. 2 GB hits and an E. Hardly getting mashed around. Gibby panics. I know he is worried about momentum and says so in his post game comments. I get that but I was one who didn't fault him for leaving in Price in Game 2 with no Cecil. But we are in back to back to back important gms and to use Sanchez, Lowe, Hendriks and Osuna in a game we are up by that much doesn't make sense to me.

CHRIS Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Not trying to defend Gibbons here, but he just has an awfully tough job here. As much as Hendriks may have been unlucky last night, I can't imagine it's easy for Gibbons to sit there and assess the unluckiness factor of the Royals ABs, especially after watching them storm back with a string of hits in the previous game. Seems like he tried to avoid having to use Osuna, but decided at a certain point to manage for the win and went with his best option.

Osuna started warming up after an infield single to start the inning. Gibbons did not trust Hendriks to hold a 7 run lead. It had nothing to do with the game being close or securing a win. The game was never in doubt regardless of how many comebacks the Royals have made this post season (a grand total of 2).
Mac Outlaw Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I agree. Osuna shouldn't have come in. Need to save him for Game 5. There was no need for that.

Weirder things have happened baseball. I'm not too thrilled with the inefficiency of how he's used the pen lately, but at the end of the day, I'm not the one that has to answer for it if he leaves in Hendriks and he continues to get BABIP'd by this Royals Team of Destiny.

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Bullpen management, what a concept!
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 He has zero idea what the f*** he's doing. Unbelievable
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Ryan Tepera lol. Jesus christ
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 We really need to see some aggressive movement towards him getting fired. So damn tired of this same old song and dance.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Once you bring Hawkins in, you're basically giving up.
vdartanian Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Not Gibbons fault that guys like Tepera are in the the bullpen, but f*** me yesterday was the day to try and get some mileage out of him, definitely not the guy I'd be turning to when you need to shut the other team down.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I change my vote to "no" Boy do I ever feel like i flip flopped but I don't remember seeing anyone f*** over their own team this severely.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 You need strikeouts and you put in Ryan f***ing Tepera? f*** off Gibby.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 You need strikeouts and you put in Ryan f***ing Tepera? f*** off Gibby. That was unbelievable. You're down 3, bases loaded, none out. Your season hangs in the balance. And you bring in Ryan Tepera. No words.

Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Where's pickoff22 or whatever his name is?
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 It's honestly a slap in the face to the fans who paid good money to go and have supported this team for years. He basically conceded game 1 by bringing in a scrub reliever in the 9th only down 3 and now this.
over500 Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Putting in Lowe for the second straight game, while it's only a 10 run game. Crafty managing right there.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 And now he brings in Lowe. He has gone full retard.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 took 10 years but someone has finally passed Sam Mitchell as the worst to coach a Toronto sports team
