It goes a bit beyond that. Cito pretty much single-handedly drove Shaun Green and John Olreud out of town because they didn't hit the way he wanted them to. Guy was a giant *******, and his ego was f***ing huge.

The core of the championship teams loved playing for Cito. Flags fly forever.

Thanks for mentioning that book. I'll see about finding Francona's book when I have a chance. Bet Francona would probably be saddened at what his former club has become (although the Indians haven't been great either.. more due to poor spending on guys like Swisher and Bourn.)

Francona's book also has good insight on the whole chicken and beer in the clubhouse ordeal (which he didn't oppose.)

Cashman arrived at the sabermetrics party very late ... he made numerous horrendously awful and laughable big ticket pitching acquisitions after Cone, Clemens, Wells moved on (as Torre's biography highlights.)

But he got there. Still waiting on AA.

Must be a long line at the buffet.

well, given that AA gave Russell Martin the biggest FA contract in Blue Jays history he probably was looking at more than Russell's career batting average and RBIs ...

AA definitely uses all tools at his disposal, he just over enjoys catching lightning in a bottle

Why should he. Gibbons knows long term job security can be attained by staying at .500. There is no reason to do better. No Motivation. No incentive.

Thats why Dubrount will stay in tonight until he blows it.

Play Smoak, FYSMC

The only reason you are remotely justified in playing Colla with his D liabilities is if he hits...a lot.

So why does Gibby think Colla will hit Gray better than Smoak LH?

Let's rag on Cito Gaston some more and ignore what's going on today.

It's more fun.

Or DV went yard whore? Sense and

sensibility...Toe-Rag.

Wow...the shitbag manager cost us another game. Well I guess if we end 10 games below .500 we can all say...a good manager would have made this team .500 lol

Edwin was pure dogshit tonight. He had RISP for 3 of his at bats tonight and did dick all. If he had come through with a base hit in any of those situations, we would have won. Edwin has been a huge disappointment this year and i'm not sure if he should bat cleanup anymore.

That smirk on his Gibbons' face after the Colabello didn't scoop that throw from JD f***ing pissed me off.

Why do you say that? Because Smoak didn't play at first?

If that's your argument, what is your take on Valencia hitting a home run?

I agree. He's become a joke. All he had to do in the 9th was to hit a lazy fly ball for us to win it.

The in game management last night was one of the worst in this 22 year drought. Citis had worse but then again not much was expected from.him

Oh relax.

Edwin looks like 2010-2011 Edwin, that's about all I have to say about that.

He has really struggled. (for him). Earlier on I thought it was injury related but now it just seems teams throw him breaking s*** away and he isn't getting to it or laying off.

When they come in he is missing it often.

He is still a threat.

every time the jays lose, this thread gets longer by a few pages lol

As it should. Not saying last nights game was on Gibby, but this team need to find a way to win close games in a hurry.

With proper defense fundamentals at first and Smoak hitting with men on baae instead of Colabello we would have won easily. Valencia homered but as often with this team....offense alone isnt enough to win

You have some serious problems, one is a making something trivial seem like something important. But why should I expect rational thought from someone with a frowning spiderman outfit as his avatar?

Let me help you

i missed the game last night any big mistakes by Gibbons? Obviously the lineup card was s***, but in game decisions?

Not really.. it was mostly bad luck last night. And of course, that play at the end of the game would've likely scored, no matter who plays 1B.

well, Gray does a bit better against LH batters and Smoak is 1 for 12 (with 6 Ks) vs Gray.

oh, and big game winning rbi by Cola today! :)

lol. Give me a break. Gray's career stats are virtually even on splits - Smoak this year hasn't been Smoak of past and he gives you better D. He might have even picked the JD throw. This season Colla is hitting LHP better than RHP although he has held his own against both. Don't cherry pick Smoaks past stats to compare when most of Colla's stats come from independent f***ing ball.

I have no issue with Colla starting today against LHP when he isn't on the field, aside from the fact I like Smoaks D at 1B over Edwin. Yup he got a great hit today.

Great win by the Gibber!

pinch hitting Carrera for Valencia ... sticking with Cola for yet another game winning knock ... exceptional use of the pen etc. etc.
