Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Theblujay's only saving grace is that LTBF is slightly dumber than he is.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 And what do you plan on studying pal! if I go into engineering I plan to not brag about it on bluejaysmessageboard.com
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 are you going to start bragging about how you're an engineer again yes probably.... problem?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 yes probably.... problem? Just glad I know my best buddy so well
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Unless the Cardinals score 8 runs tonight (they currently have 1 in the top of the 8th), the Jays will take the major league lead in run differential with the 8-spot shutout they put up tonight. http://i.gyazo.com/6a94bf6c1b097ecdd1e51ebac4a18b20.png
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Didn't Pillar bat ahead of Martin for several games?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Re: Jays - Marlins trade. MB has been the only player of any significant value from the trade. Reyes not worth the $$. Sad thing is after MB's 2012 season, Jays could have acquired him for very little. Wasn't there some innuendo the Jays didn't want MB but had to take him as part of the deal, to get AA's primary targets, Reyes and Johnson?

Actually, there were reports that AA was jumping up and down with excitement at the prospect of landing Buehrle.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Is Reyes really THAT bad? He was 5th in SS WAR last year. he's fine as a player, but value wise he sucks

flafson Verified Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Looks like Travis might be back sometime this weekend, who do you guys drop to make room for him? If they drop Goins, they have none to back Reyes or Travis in the infield.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 he's fine as a player, but value wise he sucks 3.4 WAR and he made 17 million. I mean that's not great value but I don't think he's the albatross that everyone makes him out to be.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Looks like Travis might be back sometime this weekend, who do you guys drop to make room for him? If they drop Goins, they have none to back Reyes or Travis in the infield. Since both Travis and Reyes are both fragile, why not keep Goins in the middle infield, and have one of them DH and the other one get routine rest. You can also go bat heavy on days, and have Encarnacion DH, This just creates more flexibility. Goins defense is huge. He is a rally killer and a wonderful defender. If its him at 2B instead of Valencia the other night, maybe that double play is turned.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Oakland was one of the better teams in baseball last season in that regard and it didn't help them much... They made the playoffs. They won 88 games, more than the Jays have done in 22 years.

Problem is that most of his WAR is offensive, and he should be able to produce the same out of LF without hurting the team defensively.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 They made the playoffs. They won 88 games, more than the Jays have done in 22 years. Actually Jays won 88 games 13 years ago.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Actually Jays won 88 games 13 years ago. I dont know why people complain.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Problem is that most of his WAR is offensive, and he should be able to produce the same out of LF without hurting the team defensively. He plays a premium position, that is very valuable. Reyes wouldn't hit enough to be a good corner outfielder, given that he's played infield all his life he would probably not be Alex Gordon out there.

I don't know about what kind of a LF he will be defensively, he is very athletic so i have to question why he would struggle so much. I think he can atleast be average.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Jays need to get back on a winning streak right now! We're in a dog fight. Baltimore is playing better now and have passed the jays because we gave away two games in NY. we have to beat up on the east next week!

Don't think he could be any worse then what we have been throwing out there at this point! Plus Goins and Travis in the middle might be special and fun to watch!
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Isn't this around the same time last year that Baltimore turned on the jets and started to run away with the division Not sure but, how good would another eight game win streak be right now for the team and US!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 The Jays need another winning streak and then to add pieces at the deadline. One winning streak was to dig themselves out of the huge hole they were in. Another winning streak is needed to take a leap towards being a playoff team. Clearly, the division is starting to play better, and .500 will not cut it.
