Here's something:

Tonight's loss @ Braves is the first consecutive loss since August 14-15 v. Yankees (the Beltran HR and the game after).

I'll take a month between consecutive losses.

2nd loss in a row and people are losing their minds around here.

The fact that we're 1-3 this year against a horrendous Atlanta team probably doesn't help.

I don't think many are losing their minds. Overall we have been great since break. Losing to ATL will always be a downer and Gibby's reliance on Sanchez over Lowe/Osuna in high leverage when we need K's is a head scratcher. I said Mon I'd be thrilled with 2 of 3 and feel same now.

Like their games against Philly these guys played poorly against the Braves, could be poor attitude when playing sub 500 teams. What was with the Barney sub and Goins to the bench?

National league stuff. Double switch since Goins was last to bat and we were changing pitchers.

But neither Cecil or Lowe were slated to pitch more than one inning anyways

What? If I remember correctly, Goins was the last out in the 8th so Gibby did a double switch so the pitcher would bat in Goins' spot instead of the 9th spot. Meaning Darwin Barney would come up to bat in the next inning instead of the pitcher. That was a good move.

Couldn't he had just left Goins in? Then when the pitcher spot came up he could have pinched hit with a far better hitter than Barney BC the next inning there was another pitcher coming in. There was no reason to double switch. In fact the double switch resulted in Barney getting an at bat over a much more competent hitter like Navarro

He must have been planning to use Sanchez for 2 innings when he made the switch. Also wanted to save Navarro for a PH after the big boppers?

Its the only thing that makes sense. I don't think Gibbons is as dumb as you guys think

He's not.

Gibbons has forgotten more about baseball than we'll know. You can pretty much say that about any player, coach, or GM. Sometimes moves are made against the grain... And it could be for a thousand different reasons that we aren't even privy to... And yet we presume to know everything and have all the answers.

I don't always agree with the moves that Gibby makes... But to think I'm more qualified to make them would be retarded.

Not to mention a lot of decisions fans make are based on looking up advanced stats from fangraphs during the game. They go by their prep sheets, reports or whatever the hell they bring.

Getting a coaching/managing job is more about networking, who you know and being in the right place at the right time. Just because a guy plays a lot of baseball, or plays high level baseball, or has been around the game a long time, it doesn't mean he's a smart man. I don't question his experience or the fact he knows a lot about baseball, but some of his decisions are borderline retarded. Yesterday is a good example. I don't see any possible defense to that strategy last night. He was setting this team up to fail.

I agree with BOTH of these posts lol. Even though the word "retarded" is used in a couple of contexts.

Their prep sheets, reports and whatever else they bring really shouldn't differ that much from what Fangraphs says anyhow. It doesn't take a former big leaguer to realize that pitching to Simmons last night was most likely the worst possible match up the Jays could have put out there.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but I don't mind ripping on the guy when he's in the wrong. He shouldn't be immune to the criticism he's receiving. I don't blame the loss on Gibby, because there were a lot of other things that went wrong. What I blame is the process- one that clearly wasn't thought out, or they were unprepared for.
