I'd love to get lunchbox back but with Pillar, Pompey and Saunders in the mix it's hard to justify a roster spot for him.

Two of the the three aren't on the 25 man roster right now. He would be an excellent pick up

Why Navarrrooooo?

Wright gets crushed by lefties have Martin sit today instead of tomorrow. He would have sit either way this series.

True, I guess you'd send Kawasaki down and use Snider in LF for the time being.

or Schultz

They aren't going to send a reliever down without calling another one up. It could be Collabello but they seem to like him more than Kawasaki (who is going down when Travis comes back anyways)

Despite going 14-3 since May 31, the Jays have only gained 1.5 games in the standings.

But they've also climbed over 5 teams in the wild card in the process. So at least there's that. f***, the entire AL is kicking the s*** out of the NL in interleague games the last few weeks. Every division in the AL combines to be over .500 with the "weak" AL East leading the way at +12 now.

Also note that the Twins and Yankees have games in hand as well, as do the Rangers.

As for the wild card, there is starting to be separation, as the Angels struggle, Tigers remained mired in mediocrity, and the O's still have troubles with their starting pitching staff. Now all the Jays need is the Twins, Rays and Yankees to go into a slump while we win.. of course, we play the Rays next and can do that ourselves.

I'm only doing the Chapman + Cueto deal if we have a window to talk to Cueto's reps and the deal is contingent on him signing an extension. And yes, I know that will drive up the price, but here's the thing: We traded Jeff Kent for David Cone. Jeff Kent went on to be a hall of famer in San Fran, but Cone helped us win the title, so no one complains. If Cueto and Chapman, in this 1 and a half year window we have left, can be key pieces and we win a title (big if), Hoffman, Norris, and SRF could become the next Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz for all I care and no one would shake two shits because at he end of the day, it's the ring that it's all about. I'd rather have 1 title and 9 years of no playoffs including a few tank years with our core pieces aging and having no future in the pipeline than to have 5 playoff years and another 5 just outside looking in years with no title.

This offense is absolutely special. There's no guarantees of a title, but at some point you have to push the stack and go all in, and I think this year is the time. Make the all in push for this year and next and if it doesn't work out, it sucks, but at least you had a good run. It's not like the league will go defunct after next year and fold. We can still rebuild after next year and restock the pipeline, which has probably been one of AA's strongest suits.

im thinking if the white sox continue to tank then samardzija could be a great buy low candidate; cueto/hamels will cost too much

Yup, Shark's another good one. Maybe if the White Sox want to unload some more salary, you can add Robertson into the deal too, who only has 3 years left. Again, I'd prefer it being contingent on Shark signing an extension, but that sounds a lot cheaper than Cueto and Chapman. I want nothing to do with Hamels.

Only problem, Shark's having a really s*** year right now. Well below his standards. Moving to AL East ballparks won't do him too many favors.

Jays have had bad luck trading for WS pitchers. Shark's innings were ramped up fairly quickly..... I'd be extremely cautious with any deal for him

Man did we ever dodge one not signing Melky. He sucks right now.

I'm going to gloat on calling that one. I predicted that Saunders > Melky this year, and even with Saunders missing the vast majority of the games so far, I was STILL right.

I don't think AA even wanted him back.

Yeah, good point. This is also that crook Kenny Williams we're talking about, so there's probably some underlying chronic issue that's gonna make him injured virtually all the time upon arriving here just like Sirotka and Santos.

Dude, i'm pretty sure more than 75% of posters here knew that Saunders would outperform Melky. We all knew Melky was going to decline and be a waste of money.

The only people that wanted Melky for 3/45 were the typical idiot posters.

Yeah, but the idiots are typically so loud that it seems like there's more of them...

the knowledgeable posters, such as myself, were ok with 3/30 for Melky, which as it turns out, would have been worse than Mouser..... and the same posters also knew Saunders is a much better all around ballplayer
