If we can land Carlos I would give Cleveland Pompey, Norris, Sanchez and Castro for Carrasco , Allen and Bourn

That's far too light. They'd hang up the phone, instantly.

Jays are like a more responsible Padres front office?

Well, that's encouraging...

So Jays are looking for what they traded away? I guess they should've been patient with the farm system ey?

I hope ownership wakes the heck up.

How quickly things change.

Then the Jays should be Eldarado. EE for Quintana/Carrasco. Get er done AA!

I wonder what Pillar could fetch in a trade.

Honestly, I think he could fetch more than we may expect. His bat is just below league average (92 wRC+), doesn't walk a lot (4.2% BB) but doesn't strike out a lot either (15.1% K). His defense and base running are stellar. He is in a "breakout" year, already providing 2.2 WAR over 97 games and is still young at 26 years old. I have shifted my views of him from a 4th OF to a everyday OF you can put anywhere. That is pretty much gold for teams like Indians, O's Mariners and maybe the Tigers.

I don't think he'd fetch a top end ace but something around Gausman or Paxton could potentially be done. I don't think the Jays want to go that route however. With Saunders and Bautista's future in the OF in question and no real immediate solution for a replacement outside of Pompey/Alfrod, whom may never make it, think the Jays would rather keep him.

So as I was saying, Carlos Gonzalez was a good buy low candidate 3-4 weeks ago. Maybe not so much anymore.

Carlos Gonzalez was a "buy low" candidate as much as Edwin is a "buy low" candidate off of the Jays' squad...ie not a buy low candidate unless the FO for the team wants to get torched by the fan base for giving up a star player during a slump for less than he's worth.

And with teams like the Tigers and O's sliding, the trade market is getting heavily glutted in SP..

Let's hope that exec came out of Cincy or Philly

The best way to improve the club imo is to trade EE for pitching help. Given that Navarro is getting so much playing time in favour of Smoak anyways, if you trade Encarnacion and put Smoak in the line up everyday, there's no downgrade to the line up based on both of those guys' performance this year.

Interesting idea

Then Smoak finally plays every day?

He was awful last year even when playing and got off to a terrible start this season, so that's a long slump but I see what you're saying. It's clear he's still a very talented hitter and capable of going off like he has the last few weeks. Would be an excellent LHB for the lineup, although not #1 priority of course :)

Ideally. The reason being while EE has had a down year in terms of wRC+, WAR and higher strikeouts he is still producing offensively. Likely going to end the year at 25-30 HR and 80-100 RBI.

If you take that production away, you still have the top to top 3 offense in baseball while improving the teams pitching now and heading forward. Not to mention you clear up any contract concerns after next year.

Trading EE to me makes sense. If he allows it or if it happens is another story.

@jonmorosi: David Price already has drawn interest from #BlueJays, #Dodgers and #Cubs; #Tigers still unsure whether they will move him.

Edwin + Castro? To the Indians for Carrasco.

Edwin would probably veto the trade though...

Anyways, I would do that move for Carrasco and then see if we can get both of Cespedes and Price from Detroit in a trade. The cost would be huge, but worth it IMO.

Tell Edwin he won't be playing much next season and then see what he says lol

Indians never agree to that deal (unless they're incredibly stupid).

They need offense, so I can see them wanting Edwin. As for other pieces, i'm not sure. What do you think the Indians would accept?

I don't know, but I wouldn't pursue a trade for Carrasco. He's a brilliant arm, but there's probably no way you walk away from that deal and feel good about what you gave up. The best you can probably do is give them fair value, and fair value for Carrasco is too big of a price for me to be comfortable with in a trade for a pitcher.

I'd go after somebody like Tyson Ross of the Padres.

Indians are going to be sellers. They're not taking Edwin.

With ther epretty much being a buyer's market on pitching right now, I'd try and pry both Ross and Cashner for a reasonable price, maybe take on the short term dump in Benoit to lessen the cost.

#Royals were close to acquiring Cueto from #Reds earlier tonight, sources tell me and @jonmorosi. Deal fell through.

Sources indicate that the problem was that one of the players going from the #Royals to the #Reds for Cueto did not check out medically.

Willing to bet it's Zimmer. Maybe Manaea.
