Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 You should be willing to trade anybody for pitching. Pitching is the corner stone of winning teams. Ask Shark how a s***** defense impacts pitching. The goal is to build the best team

pat_borders Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Depends on which pitcher... And their contact situation. Yes... I'd trade Norris, Hoffman, Pompey, etc... But the right player needs to be coming back. Exactly. None of these guys should be untouchable for the right player
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 a good manager is the cornerstone of winning teams. No, a good team is the cornerstone of winning teams.
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 No, a good team is the cornerstone of winning teams. the significance of players is overrated bro.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Wait I think a team that believes it can win is the connerstone of a winning team!
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Donaldson on whether he expects his GM to make a move to bolster team: I try not to play general manager, because I get paid to play third base. Kind of saying FYSMC to the reporters who tried to get him to bite.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Nick Cafardo on what other teams are asking the Jays to give up: Depends on what starter you're talking about. The only untouchable on that list are Travis. The guys i wouldn't want to give up because they help the team this year are Pillar and Norris. Everyone else is in play.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 the significance of players is overrated bro. Oh, was your previous post meant to be sarcasm? My bad.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Donaldson on whether he expects his GM to make a move to bolster team: Kind of saying FYSMC to the reporters who tried to get him to bite. I love Donaldson more and more.
Qwerty Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Heh... Theres no stat that tells you when a regression to the mean will occur. = "Timing" The reality is that inconsistent pitchers have bad seasons because sample size is not confined to a single season. In your head it is confined because that's the way sample size is often reported. You've failed to respond to me in a manner which adds value. You've failed on multiple occasions. For this reason I will no longer communicate with you.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 If you can get Cueto and Chapman as a package, I think you have to do it. The Jays can't afford to sit around. Either rebuild or go for it. They don't have the roster for a long sustained run thanks to the GM's moves two years ago. So try to win over the next two years and let the chips fall where they fall in 2017. They could still have a good team in 2017 even if they traded Norris, Hoffman, etc. I hate teams with windows of contention but the fat man in the GM chair has given us no choice.

We only get a chance every 20+ years, I'd rather go all in now. I don't care if were historically bad for the next 10 years, I want playoffs instead of this continued mediocrity. No one's untouchable, I'd move Donaldson if it meant the right combination of players are coming back

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Good pick up. Pretty low GB rate but his HR/FB is still lower than previous years. 3.75 xFIP
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I'd do something like Pompey + Nay, more if they throw Robertson in, then we deal our excess relief
flafson Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I'd do something like Pompey + Nay, more if they throw Robertson in, then we deal our excess relief Doesn't he have a monster contract? They probably count on him for next year too.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I'd do something like Pompey + Nay, more if they throw Robertson in, then we deal our excess relief I don't see the Jays ever taking on a reliever with Robertson's contract.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 And the Jays being aggressive on Shark is not really a rumor. Nightengale very nonchalantly mentioned it once in his article without any elaboration and the Toronto sports media scavengers all predictably jumped on it without a second thought. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2015/07/05/white-sox-trade-deadline-buy-sell-jeff-samardzija-rick-hahn-ken-williams/29738873/ http://i.gyazo.com/1278e8e81df648fce43f95b99a7d2863.png

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 My god the White Sox are a bad org right now.

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Kenny Williams can't come to Toronto soon enough. Oh wait... I have to say, it's enjoyable listening to CWS and SD employees/media people talk about how dumbfounded they are at their teams' failures this season.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I don't want Robertson with his contract though. Have them toss in Zach Putnam instead. Nate Jones is making good progress, another guy who could be a nice addition. I don't see how Robertson gets dealt.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I have to say, it's enjoyable listening to CWS and SD employees/media people talk about how dumbfounded they are at their teams' failures this season. You mean historically bad defense is a bad thing?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 You mean historically bad defense is a bad thing? Their offense is quite shite also. Outside of Abreu, Cabrera (who has been trash) Eaton, and LaRoche, they had nothing. I was laughing at Whitesox fans in the offseason who kept saying that their "lineup is amazing".
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/anthopoulos-blue-jays-have-pieces-to-make-a-move/ So who on the 25-man realistically could be traded that has value to other teams? I have a bad feeling Edwin may be a piece. AA seems like the kind of guy who would want maximum asset management. Shipping Edwin would allow a Smoak/Valencia/Portobello rotation in 1B/LF.
