Give me the odds that you think Sanchez turns into a #1 or #1a starter.

Eduardo Rodriguez (who I think is a lot better than Sanchez) was traded for 2 months of Andrew Miller who was a big part of their playoff run. You need to open your eyes and realize he's a guy they should be looking to deal for a rotation upgrade.

Roughly 1 in 10. What are your odds?

My eyes are open. I'd trade anyone, including Sanchez, for the right return.

Sanchez, Norris, Hoffman, and Osuna are extremely tradeable as long it's for SP

Is a few months of Sharkey or Cueto worth as much as five more years of Sanchez? A couple years ago people were talking about giving up Stroman for Sharkey and Sharkey's era is a run higher than Sanchez's.

I'd probably say 2-5% but that's fair your eyes are open. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to deal him for Samardzija but some will disagree.

They won the division?

Sanchez is not on the same level of Samardzija, it would be a huge upgrade. How good exactly do you think Sanchez is? He might be ok, he might be terrible, I can't see any scenario where he becomes a top of the rotation starter, so they shouldn't hesitate trading him for a win now player.

In your earlier post you said you can't see any scenario where Sanchez becomes a top of the rotation starter, which is what I took issue with, and a short time later you give odds of 2-5%. Contradicting yourself.

Sorry, I forgot runs aren't important.

It's not the runs he has given up it's the runs he will in the future that matter.

Can injured players be traded? Stroman is fantastic, which is why the return would be huge. If the Jays are going to be moving top flight talent to win now, can expect an injured Stroman to be in play....

If a pitcher has a start, gets the first two batters out, next guy reaches on an error and they proceed to score 6 runs, did that pitcher have a good outing? His ERA is 0.

That's true, there is a nonzero chance of just about anything happening. Brett Cecil could become a starter again.

I can't see the scenario because I can't envision it happening. I thought you were on the Sanchez hype train but it turns out you aren't really, which is good.

Oh I like Sanchez and see him as comparable to a young Chris Carpenter, who turned out ok. Also, you can envision it, to the tune of 2-5%

Do you trade him in a deal for Samardzija? The window is closing with Bautista/EE on cheap contracts. I'm a fan of going for it when it makes sense and between 2014-2016 might be their best chance for a while.

Easy fix don't have Reyes give up that error lol

I want to thank this ten times but it won't let me!

Of course not. But Sanchez averages 6IP per game with an ERA 3.55, he's only 22, under control for 5 more years and he's cheap.

That depends. Did they get those six runs, by Reyes making six more errors?

WAR of -0.1, FIP of 5.19, xFIP of 4.56, K/BB Ratio of 1.05

Best not to just look at one stat and draw conclusions. It's short sighted and stupid.

There is some fallacy when it comes to these stats, especially when looking at the team concept

So I make a point about how ERA is very messy and misleading, you agree...and then proceed to ignore all that and use ERA to support your argument.

Jeeeeeeze.

It's just as short sighted and stupid to draw conclusions after 66 IP, if we trade every 22 year old who struggles in big leagues we'll never have a decent rotation.

You debate by extremeS, here's Syndergaard's line vs the Padres:

IP TBF H R ER HR BB SO K/9 BB/9 HR BABIP LOB% GB% HR/FB ERA FIP xFIP

4.0 22 10 7 7 1 0 10 22.50 0.00 2.25 .818 34.9 % 50.0 % 100.0 % 15.75 1.36 -1.54

He gets hit around but has a great fip

What about the 300 innings of the minors when his walk rates were 5 per 9?

I don't care about how many guys he walked as a teenager.
