NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I mean I don't want to lose if he gets 400 PA and then misses September with an injury. I've had someone void a bet in that manner before. lol I see what you mean. That would be tragic. If Viciedo gets 300 before Saunders is re-injured, you win.
Gorlak Verified Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I hope he doesn't set foot in the outfield. He's at least a decent platoon partner for a worse case scenario.
Nafro Verified Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I see a situation where this is a prelude to trading Navarro. Navarro gets moved, Viciedo if he hits half decent DH's and doesn't become a defensive liability.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Shi Davidi #BlueJays and Dayan Viciedo reach agreement on minor-league deal that will pay him $2.5m if he makes team Viciedo 2.5M + Johan 2.5M = 5M We are done!!
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 As a minor league deal I really like this. Why wouldn't you. Maybe he turns out to be EE 2.0 and if not, he can hit some bombs in Buffalo. Why is it that every big power Mexican automatically has the potential to turn into EE/Ortiz?
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 He's EE 2.0. Book it! 3.0 Juan Francisco was EE 2.0. We have the thread for proof.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 cant see him making the team if he gets 2.5 million..That would be a bad way to spend money.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 3.0 Juan Francisco was EE 2.0. We have the thread for proof. David Cooper - Mark Grace 2.0 Moises Sierra - Nelly Cruz 2.0 Juand Francisco - EE 2.0

That second link call by the announcer......what the hell was that and what did he say? Talk about Homer.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Goddammit fatcow Fatcow was both of the last ones lol.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 That ball hit deep....way back ...he looks up....you can put it in .....the what???? LOL
Gorlak Verified Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Shi Davidi #BlueJays and Dayan Viciedo reach agreement on minor-league deal that will pay him $2.5m if he makes team Viciedo 2.5M + Johan 2.5M = 5M We are done!! How s***** is that this has to be decided at the end of spring training, That's a lot of cash top bet on SSS.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Ken Rosenthal Sources: #BlueJays in agreement with Viciedo. great... at least he will make up for his pathetic defense with some f***ing s***ing hitting. most of the fan base looking at AA right now and going, WTF!!

Gorlak Verified Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Johan has a month in the minors first. Not sure on Viciedo. That's actually not so bad since the bet is whether or not he can get close to what he was. Viciedo is like 4 homeruns away from burning 2.5 mil.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Is Viciedo really more interesting than Andrew Brown?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Is Viciedo really more interesting than Andrew Brown? +24 wRC+ against LHP, but I hate him.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Good I like Viciedo he still has some potential. Guys there is a decent chance he's better than Smoak. Nice insurance to have on a minor league deal.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 +24 wRC+ against LHP, but I hate him. Fair enough. Brown doesn't have a split.
Gorlak Verified Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Good I like Viciedo he still has some potential. Guys there is a decent chance he's better than Smoak. Nice insurance to have on a minor league deal. That's true, Smoak is terrible.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Hard to believe Viciedo is still only 25.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 +24 wRC+ against LHP, but I hate him. you're always s*** until you aren't anymore. Kasmir was s*** until he wasn't anymore. EE and Lind were s*** until they weren't anymore. The both were sent to the minors. Johan and Viciedo are both on minor league deals...they won't necessarily play in the big leagues. It's a low risk gamble on both players
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Viciedo to become the next Encarnacion.
Key22 Verified Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 The guy is at least serviceable, has experience and has some home run power. He played left, right, 1B last year and can apparently fill in at third. His offense according to his splits were pretty much the same versus lefties righties, home or away first half second half. So you kind of know exactly what you're likely to get. 25 years old and can hit you 20 doubles and 20 homers in the same year. Costs next to zilch and is only 25. Let's face it - with no budget room and no OF depth this guy at the very least puts some ticks in the useful box. His oWAR is at least above zero and his defense is about the same as Melky's defense. Not a bad stop gap measure - use Pillar as a defensive replacement where needed. Pillar's temp LF job to lose but at least they have SOMEONE remotely competent to fill the void if Pillar stinks it up.

Key22 Verified Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Viciedo to become the next Encarnacion. Yes I remember those days where 99% of Toronto fans wanted EE released because he was so horrible etc etc - indeed, they put him on waivers and every team passed on him (I thought there were shrewd brilliant GMs out there better than AA - but they ALL passed on him. Spend some time - fix up his swing and boom - around a top ten hitter in the AL. How many people want him released now? Still not everyone is EE and Viciedo will need a .50 point bump to his OBP to get into that kind of conversations - still defensively EE is just as bad in terms of dWAR.
