burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) Even though there will still be a few moves until ST a Nevada sportsbook set their O/U win totals for the 2015 season. My 5 picks would be: White Sox Under Padres Under Rays Over Orioles Under Cubs Over (was leaning towards Mariners Over but you could take either one I think) AL EAST WIN TOTAL Red Sox 86 Orioles 84.5 Blue Jays 83.5 Yankees 80 Rays 77.5 AL CENTRAL WIN TOTAL Tigers 86.5 Royals 83 White Sox 82 Indians 81 Twins 68.5 AL WEST WIN TOTAL Angels 87.5 Mariners 85 A's 82.5 Rangers 76.5 Astros 73.5 NL EAST WIN TOTAL Nationals 93 Marlins 81.5 Mets 81 Braves 73 Phillies 67 NL CENTRAL WIN TOTAL Cardinals 87.5 Pirates 85.5 Cubs 81.5 Brewers 80 Reds 79 NL WEST WIN TOTAL Dodgers 91 Giants 85 Padres 84 Diamondbacks 72.5 Rockies 70.5 http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/700435 Edited February 13, 2015 by burlingtonbandit
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 did you make up these numbers? I haven't seen anyone post yet. Edit saw the first line now. I'd expect some movement either in the actual numbers or lines involved. The Padres will get huge action at 84, just judging by what the casuals are saying about their off season. My top 5 overs 1. Rays 2. A's 3. Braves 4. Indians 5. Reds My top 5 unders 1. Padres 2. White Sox 3. Pirates 4. O's 5. Royals
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 AL EAST: Red Sox 86--Under--not convinced on their moves, and Cherington's history with free agents and trades is not good (see Melancon, Bailey, Hanrahan, Peavy, and possibly the Lackey and Lester trades as well.) Orioles 84.5--Push to Under, depending on pitching and offensive regression. Blue Jays 83.5 OVER Yankees 80 Under Rays 77.5 OVER AL CENTRAL: Tigers-- UNDER Royals--Push White Sox--Push Indians--Over Twins--Over AL WEST Angels--Under Mariners--Over A's--Push Rangers--Push Astros--Over NL EAST Nationals--Push Marlins--Over Mets--Over Braves--Push Phillies--Push NL Central Cardinals--Push Pirates--Push Cubs--Push Brewers--Under Reds--Under NL WEST Dodgers--Under Giants--Push Padres--Push D-Backs--Push Rockies--slightly Over

Their OF defense would be awful in any park, let alone playing in one of the largest in the Majors.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 The Padres don't have an infield lol and many of their pitchers' perceived values are inflated by Petco. Ian Kennedy and Tyson Ross aren't actually top of the rotation guys. They just aren't a very good team; an easy under. I also like Mets under, Orioles under and Rays over. This forum is probably close to a consensus on the latter two.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Padres UNDER Nats UNDER Twins OVER Cubes OVER all look like great bets IMO
Governator Community Moderator Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Jays will be over 83 this year, one thing's for sure I'm genuinely looking forward to this season drastically more than last.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Under O's White Sox Padres Over Blue Jays Indians Rays
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 If I didn't rent, I'd bet my house on the O's under that... I wonder if I can talk my super into betting the whole building...
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Indians seem like a good over bet to me.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I haven't done the projections yet but this is one of my favourite things to bet on. If I were to knee-jerk bet: Over Yankees Indians Astros Mets Padres Under Rays Royals Nationals Cubs Diamondbacks
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I haven't done the projections yet I don't know why this made me laugh so hard but it was a full on out loud belly laugh
Chappy Community Moderator Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I bet a friend $50 on the Marlins to win under 90 games. I don't what he was thinking.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 You should get better friends. Jk No need to jk, it's true. In terms of baseball knowledge this guy is mentally challenged with the confidence of a world champion.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Is it just me, or is that Cleveland one really f***ed up? Seriously, only 81 wins playing in a pretty weak division? If there's a good bet to be made, you take Indians +1 vs the White Sox if you can find it. One thing that really hit me when looking at these totals - nobody in the AL is expected to be that good. 87 wins gets home field through the ALCS. The Jays really do have a shot at the playoffs this year! I don't remember a time where there wasn't 2 or 3 teams expected to be at 90+ in the AL.

Nexii Verified Member Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 All teams might be projected for 87 or in the AL, but the most any AL team was projected for in 2014 was also ~89. A few teams will always exceed the projections, so 87 games won't take the ALCS home field advantage. Most likely it'll be around 97-100 again.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Diana's sauce on Steamer? More like Big Mac sauce. Only using Steamer and nothing else would be pretty myopic, wouldn't it?

Vegas lines aren't even real projections but an estimate of what sportbooks believe lines need to be to get a 50-50 split of money betting on either side so they don't expose themselves to actually making bets and just collect on the spreads. But there is an underlying truth to it - the AL crown is more up for grabs than it has been for years. Half the teams have a legitimate shot. AA picked a good year to get his act together and solve some of this team's glaring problems. It the NL 90% of people are going to pick the Nationals or Dodgers as the NLCS winner with the other 10% being "sleeper" picks of the Cardinals and Giants.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I don't even get saying push? It will be regardless of the bet, and if he's calling a push on a half, well then, he's a retard. I've assumed this long ago though, hence my ignore list.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2015 Author Posted February 16, 2015 One thing about over/under bets to take into consideration is you don't want to bet the over on teams who aren't going to win many games unless you think its a lock. Bad teams can trade their good players mid season making them even worse for the rest of the season causing their projected win total to fall.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Rays under. O's over.
