Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Dan Szymborski O's could get Sanchez and Norris and Pompey for Duquette and it would stink when Malone or Towers trade them for Andre Ethier or something.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I'm not paying that even if it was for Billiy Beane and Joe Madden. That's kind of interesting, actually. Wonder what comp for Beane would look like considering what some of the studies done have showed.
jays76 Verified Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Yeah but if they make the playoffs and DD comes he still probably won't be here for longer. DD probably has a huge ego and will want to do the GM duties himself. Would really be interesting to see what transpires next off season, either way it would be a win/win scenario having DD on board and AA orchestrating a playoff run.

The thing is DD is probably coming as the CEO because they need him to have that job title as a "promotion" when really he is coming to be the General Manager. Does DD even have business experience to run an organization as big as the Blue Jays?
flafson Verified Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I just thought of a good comparable to this situation. In CFL, when a player wants to tryout for the NFL, they always let them go even though they are under contract.
jays76 Verified Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 This is really dragging. It seems Angelos is really being petulant about this, even after all the potential smoke screens to drive up compensation, etc. I think he's truly irate about this.. I can't wait til it's finally settled, I don't know how much of a factor it really has on these teams making outside moves but transactions for the Jays & O's seem to be completely shut down since this was first announced 5wks ago.

I understand that he has a contract, but there is an unwritten rule that you let people go without compensation (in sports) for a promotion. PA refuses. Having said that, if indeed Ed Rogers is going behind the back of everyone stirring things up, that's not cool. BTW, to post a tweet, you need to type [-t-w-e-e-t]tweet number[/-t-w-e-e-t] just without the dashes.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 It needs to end soon. One way or another. 100% agree. This has been drawn out for too long and its not fair to Orioles fans

Plus, it's likely MLB doesn't exactly want to do favors for Peter Angelos and the O's right now due to the MASN situation.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Good question but then again could he really be worse than Beeston. I think the question would be could he be worse than AA. Which my reply would be yes considering how well AA built up the farm system.

There is no anti-Orioles bias here. Angelos is forcing MLB's hand to get involved by being stubborn. 3) Dan Duquette wants to come and has all but said this on record. MLB knows this and wants to ensure there are no road blocks for individuals like this

Chappy Community Moderator Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Offer something good and you can have him. What a pathetic mindset. Any organization that stands in the way of their employees trying to better themselves is a joke. Either offer him an incentive to stay or let him go. As much as I love what AA has done this winter, if another team offered him a promotion, I would hope the Jays organization wouldn't stand in the way. Just seems so petty.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Offer something good and you can have him. Such a childish mindset. You just replied to a post that essentially proved your rationale as incorrect, with the logic of a 5 year old.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Offer something good and you can have him. How much did the Jays ask for when your beloved Orioles asked them for permission to speak with Tony LaCava, while he was still under contract with the Toronto Blue Jays? The answer to that question is strikingly similar to the amount of credibility Orioles fans have when making demands about compensation.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Backing out of deals after completion, not allowing their employees to pursue better opportunities, boy, Orioles sure are an attractive organization.

It's going to be hilarious when DD finds a way himself to get out of this abortion of a situation, and the O's hire Kevin Towers.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Good luck trying to lure top execs in the future.
Orioles Verified Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I have no problem with DD leaving but the way Toronto and DD handled it - talking without permission IMO - leaking it before the winter meetings, etc.

I'm genuinely unaware of it if there is.
