Mr. Duquette was also a founding member of the Israel Baseball League in 2007. He oversaw quick turnarounds during

his tenures as GM of the Expos and Red Sox, expanding fan interest in both markets. A native of Dalton, Massachusetts,

Mr. Duquette graduated in 1980 from Amherst College, where he was a member of both the varsity baseball and varsity

football teams.

He's saying he knows how to "fudge" with the numbers. He knows how to write a profit off as a loss, well enough where every national accounting firm would agree with him.

Somebody at Rogers is out to end Beeston era with Blue Jays

TORONTO - The clumsy backstabbing of Paul Beeston reeks of corporate awkwardness and baseball inexperience.

 

It is one hell of a foolish and disrespectful way to treat a man who has given his life to baseball in this city, all of this happening in the backdrop of a most optimistic Blue Jays off-season.

 

This piece of corporate sabotage, performed by an unidentified person or more within the hierarchy of Rogers Communications Inc. — and we haven’t been able to surmise who signed off on this — was an artless end-around to remove Beeston from his position as president of the Blue Jays, and remove him without his knowledge or participation.

If he knows the Jays want him and he wants to be there and it is only a matter of time then being the GM for a division rival seems like a terrible idea. As the owner I'd be a little concerned.

Reminds me of when the Jays didn't allow Farrell to interview with the BoSox. All that extra year of keeping Farrell around accomplished was straining the relationship.

a. That's not what I said

b. You can make moves without increasing payroll. You have to trim some fat and create the financial flexibility you need. To say he was forced into inactivity is just false unless you're claiming that he was instructed that any salary he saved couldn't be re-invested in the payroll which would be pretty draconian.

He's (without good reason) being groomed for the Jays job, which makes me think if anything AA will move to president once Beest is officially out...and it's a new GM they will be looking for.
