Ross has been the worst player in the first round of the playoffs for two consecutive years. He's mentally unstable on the court. I wouldn't have given him a contract at all, but whatever..

Yup, he made a lot of excellent moves, and in the Donaldson case perhaps one of the best ever. It outweighs a lot of his mistakes.

Still can't believe the guy paid for Dickey's would be contract if he came to the Blue Jays. Only GM I've ever seen do it. 1 year of control and he paid for an extension.

Well said, this is exactly how I feel. The last sentence is the only explanation for what he's done. He's disillusioned himself and until he's 2-3 years into his second GM job and the fans/media start coming for blood will he realize how poor his decision was. We let him trade for prospects, watch him try to exploit the draft, target players that hadn't lived up to their expectations, go reliever crazy and make it his top priority, to finally trading away the prospects he drafted... Which he had the privilege of doing twice. He won't find that opportunity anywhere else, that much I'm sure of.

I tend to agree. Some young GM's would have never recovered after the Mets/Dickey fiasco. Alex made a shrewd and calculated move.

I've never seen three months shift the opinion of a man quite like it has AA. If this had happened in July of 2013, 2014, or 2015, I'm excited and ready for a new regime. Instead, I'm somewhat curious if this is the right move. Although I must admit, the more Alex speaks on this topic, the more I recognize he may just be a greedy bastard.

I remember looking at it last year, but striking gold with Bautista and Edwin is something you just never see. He was truly given a miracle.

He has two pitches at the moment, but yes I actually think he's more enticing as a starting as he gets older.

Even when you strike gold in somebody like Santos, it's just as likely it falls apart. It should take the average fan a maximum of 2 or 3 seasons of watching baseball to realize just how ridiculously difficult it is to project a bullpen.

This is where Oakland should be, buying Jim Johnson and trading for Jeff Samardzija reminded us of that. They're efficient and very well structured, but once they start spending money they're like anybody else and prone to the big mistake. -
One year isn't so bad, but I really would've liked to see this organization make the ruthless move and send Beeston into retirement. Regardless, Alex has one year to prove himself and Beeston will be way the hell out of Toronto in 12 months or less.
