As in stands right now the Blue Jays don't have a closer. Some would argue they have plenty of starting pitching depth with long arms Redmond, Estrada, & Hendricks. Many would say Sanchez should be our closer while others like to see him start in AAA (Ideal world I guess), then there are a few that think he should be moved right in to the rotation.

Those are your opinions, however the question is where will the Blue Jays end up putting Sanchez?

BP. Not as Closer. After a month and a half he'll get sent back down to AAA to get stretched out over a few games. He'll then be brought back up to start. End result = Fighting Stroman for ROTY.

I voted AAA as I'd imagine the bullpen will be filled and Sanchez stretched out in the minors to start the year. Once injuries to the pen or rotation happen, he'd be first one up.

I think he closes and I'm fine with that. If he can be a 1st division closer, that's probably better then what he brings back in a trade.

AAA. My first reaction was the MLB bullpen, but I'm optimistic that Alex will put in some work on the bullpen, and they'll be able to stretch out Sanchez for the Bisons.

Part of me just doesn't expect the Jays to sign someone for the closer role and will use an internal resource for it, Cecil or Sanchez. I think Sanchez because of Cecil's versatility out of the pen is quite valuable. Would it stunt his growth as a future starter? I don't know, I don't think anyone can surely say it would and ultimately I'd be ok if he turned out to be a legit closer.

I don't think they'll use Cecil as the closer. I think they'll sign/trade for an underrated RP and stick him in the closer role. Atleast that is what they should do.

I voted AAA on the chance that AA reads this forum.

Unfortunately I suspect he will be in the bullpen. But all is not lost, Jimmy Key spent almost the equivalent of a year in the bullpen before taking a starter role. If Sanchez follows the Key route, he will move to the rotation come August.

AA's interview on the radio convinced me he's gonna start the year in the pen as a setup man. Honestly I have no problems with this, I don't think Sanchez is consistent enough to be a big league starter and if you have a 100 MPH flamethrower in your system you might as well use him if you're going to compete.

I think he's going to be a really f***ing good reliever one day, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. I think he'll provide a good amount of value out of the pen, more than most relievers.

But yeah, not much faith in him as a starter.

Agreed regarding him starting, I would like to see him either given a chance to start though, when someone gets injured, or try him as a long man to see how he deals with multiple innings.

This is a tough choice. Part of me thinks he might be best suited coming out if the pen, he seems to have more consistency throwing strikes in that role. I know the ideal is he becomes an ACE starter, but there's also a chance he never ends up more than a Brandon Morrow.

I do know if he doesn't start in our bullpen, our bullpen is in desperate need for another late inning guy, that's for sure.

I read where a lot of the Jays brain trust agree with you. I just think that the urge to put him in the pen to strengthen what right now looks like the weakest link will be too great. They need 3 pen Arms.

Just like Texas did with Feliz and Cincy did to Chapman.

I would prefer to have him in AAA starting cause we will need starters for sure next year

Nah he said it would be an option. But he will be stretched out as a starter. Unless we sign another starter. the 5th starter spot is now his to win.

My mistake, I must've missed the interview he gave today where he said pretty much word for word what you just said. thanks

Sorry but some of u are delusional if u thing he will be anything but an epic fail as a starter in the majors.

Im willing to bet up to 10k in some sort of SP bet that he will be terrible

lol

And why will Sanchez definitely blow as a starter? What makes you so confident of this fact that your are willing to mortgage your rare action figure collection to make a 10 k dollar bet
