Laika Community Moderator Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Rumoured to be available. Under contract for his physical prime, age 28-30. $12M $12.5M $13M team option w/ $1M buyout. Thumpy LHB that plugs an obvious roster hole. I'd probably be fine trading Sanchez for him.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Agree. It'll take more than Sanchez though
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Jay Bruce available (2 years 24.5 M). I like him as a LF wRC+ Vs R +16 Vs L -6
shortstop Verified Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 reds will want too much in return
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 The more I think about it, the more valuable Sanchez probably is to this team in a trade, as opposed to shaky starter/8th inning guy.

reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Would be a great target. Love that classic uppercut HR swing, wouldn't be surprised to see him lead the MLB in HR one year.

We had a guy with a swing like that..... Didn't quite work out well for him......This guy can take walks though lol

TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Sanchez screams a Red kind of guy too. Are you talking full-time LF?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Let's take Votto. Thanks for the reminder, I am supposed to advertise that Joey Votto will be at the Brampton Soccer Centre (1495 Sandlewood) on November 29th between 10am and 1pm. In Sports Day in Canada and Brampton Minor Baseball. http://bmbi.net/cms/images/stories/joey%20votto%20ad%20w%20address%20bsc.jpg
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Idk, Bruce was awful last year. One of the worst players in the bigs and his projections aren't great for this year either.
fireballW Verified Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 AA talking a lot about how they are valuing contact skills more now. Bruce seems unlikely. I'd love him but we just got rid of Gose and Rasmus. Right now our lineup is going to be very good at making pitchers really work.
Governator Community Moderator Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Isn't he a right fielder? Has he ever played left field (Not saying he couldn't but..)
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 For anyone who believes in lineup protection... Just imagine Bruce sandwiched in between Bautista and Edwin.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I'm sure AA has inquired to the Reds as he does almost anyone rumoured to be available. I think the price will be too high, though.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Just........hell no
xposbrad Verified Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Why not sign Tomas who is younger, more upside, and won't cost any prospects? The braves are trying to dump Upton to sign him.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Bruce for Sanchez - are you f***ing kidding?
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Bruce for Sanchez - are you f***ing kidding? I'm amazed at how little many people on this board value Sanchez. It's like Sanchez isn't even close to enough for 3 years of Bruce. I wouldn't trade Sanchez straight up for Bruce.

Otherwise, I wouldn't include Reyes, Lawrie, or anyone else in that category really. Oh wait, except Kawasaki whose no longer on the roster. That's one big reason imo the Jays should get Aoki & can provide more balance to the rest of the roster that, as we have seen, likes to swing away.

An uber talented 22 yr old pitcher with ace potential who put up 0.6 WAR in 33IP (granted SSS but indicative of talent level) for a guy that put up -1.1 WAR in 2014 Just keep Sanchez and sign Aoki FFS

Shaky starter? How about you let him actually start a game first. Also he was closing games last year not 8th inning guy
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 People want to trade Sanchez for Bruce who was downright awful last year, when a little more money can be used to bring Melky back. Bruce will cost $25.5M over the next 2 years, That would be a downright awful trade for a guy who had a .281 OBP last year.

Or, like I suggested before, sign Tomas. He will cost the same per year but has a huge potential of upside.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Why would Bruce be available? Do the Reds have any up and coming LF?

He will cost the same per year but has a huge potential of upside. If the money is actually there, I like Tomas over most of the other OF options, that's for sure. I'm not sure if the money is there, and AA is on record as saying he wasn't interested (but he's sometimes evasive with the media about his actual desires etc...)
