Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I Love the Martin signing. it improves the young pitching staff. What is next priority for the team?? 1. LF - Aoki would fit in this lineup for me 2. Closer - high cost for Miller?? 3. Bullpen pieces 4. 1B - I like EE as full time DH 5. Front line Starter - Lester/Shields? 6. 2B/3B - or are we done after the Gose trade? 7. Trade Dickey/Thole or Trade Navarro
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I think we need a legit front end starter before this team has any shot. The outfield and Second base also need upgrades
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 2B/3B Edwin is fine as our 1B, The BP is a BP, LF will be much easier to fill via trade (or an odd-man-out FA late in the OS)
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Resign Melky 3 year - 45 Million Don`t mess with good things. Bring back the top 4 offense,
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 Resign Melky 3 year - 45 Million Don`t mess with good things. Bring back the top 4 offense, I like that, however I think you are basically done in FA after signing Melky. No more money left for closer, 1B or bullpen pieces
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I like that, however I think you are basically done in FA after signing Melky. No more money left for closer, 1B or bullpen pieces AA has a few trade pieces left over. I rather Melky than for example signing Andrew Miller. Big money for Relievers is terrible. Bullpen pieces should be young and obtained via trade. I don`t want the whole BJ Ryan thing again. Melky is a proven commodity, we all know what we are getting
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 (edited) Navarro for controllable RP and save money in the deal. Edited November 17, 2014 by Angrioter
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Happ and Navarro for bullpen help. Sign Aoki and call it a day.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 If we can't get Melky back at a reasonable price, I wouldn't mind Torii Hunter on a cheap one year deal. The old fart can still hit.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 I think Jays need an upgrade at 1B/DH duo. Or is DH going to be a part time position used to spell Reyes, Bautista, EE with additional time going to Smoak???

TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Need to address the OF next. I'd love Markakis. Just NOT facing him is probably worth 1 win per year at least.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 OF depth is pathetic right now. Another OF, preferrably one who can play CF, would be helpful. Denorfia, Saunders, someone like that.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I wouldn't mind bringing in Chase Headley.
Blitz Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 OF depth is pathetic right now. Another OF, preferrably one who can play CF, would be helpful. Denorfia, Saunders, someone like that. Saunders for sure. I would try to deal Dickey/Thole battery to Seattle for a Saunders pkg. IMO R.A. would be less of a liability re; the home run ball at Safeco (ranked 15th) than he has been at RC (3rd) or in yankee stadium (1st). SEA could also use the help behind the plate defensively to be perfectly honest. I really think there is a deal to be made here.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Lester AND Scherzer! Do it AA! The ninja is back.
Blitz Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I think Jays need an upgrade at 1B/DH duo. Or is DH going to be a part time position used to spell Reyes, Bautista, EE with additional time going to Smoak??? Justin Morneau? Makes $6.75M this year for COL w/ and option for next year. If COL is willing to listen on Tulo I would imagine JM could be available... LH platoon partner to split time at 1B/DH with Edwin!!!
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 desperately need to get rid of Dioner and his 5 million

Blitz Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Happ for Saunders. Done from TOR POV in my opinion! Only if Melky signs elsewhere tho... not ready to burn that bridge just yet!
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I am amazed how many think our rotation is fine...this team is not going anywhere with this rotation. A bunch of back end starters, and 2 young guys we don;t know how they will do, one going into his first full year. Need a major arm before I can seriously think this team has a realistic shot at the playoffs.

Ehjays Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Do we have room on the 40 man roster??
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Would rather keep Dickey than MB ....
Blitz Verified Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Would rather keep Dickey than MB .... Yeah but nobody is gonna take on Buehrle's deal ($18, $19M) w/o AA retaining salary. Dickey is due $12M this yr with an option for $12M/$1M buyout next year, far easier to trade to somebody looking for a 200 IP guy...
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 We will be getting Suzuki and Denorforia for the outfield ! Hitters yes! Cheap yes! Short term yes! Done deal! EE dh, Smoak mayberry platoon at first! Maybe then we can if AA has lost his mind and Rogers bank is open still, Headley and shields!
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 We have a pretty good deep rotation. It's an area of depth and should be traded from, not added to. Stroman Hutch Dickey Buehrle Happ Estrada Norris Sanchez Graveman Nolin ... Osuna Castro That is a bunch of ? and mediocrity, not a contending teams rotation. Sanchez is an unknown, hutch was inconsistent last year, Stroman is just coming into his first full year, the old dudes are back end rotation starters, not an area of strength at all. having a lot of arms doesn't mean much when most are average to below average, and the rest question marks. Contending teams don't win a "I hope these guys hit their ceiling" mentality.
admin Site Manager Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I agree. Bunch of question marks. Could turn into an Oakland rotation, or could be a total disaster and people freaking out screaming at AA for not fixing the rotation.

Buehrle got paid 18 mil last year....he's going into the last year of his contract...1 year 19 mil is steep, but they could eat a bit of the contract to move him if they wanted. They may want to keep him. I could see the Dodgers overpaying for a guy like Buehrle. There's a ton of certainty with Buerhle.

Old guys put up numbers of mid rotation guys..not back end rotation guys.
