  1. Gonna voice an unpopular opinion here, but locking up Donaldson to a high $, long term deal is just repeating the Tulo mistake all over again... If there is ANY truth to the Cardinals rumours, my ask is for (top prospect) P Alex Reyes & their current 3B Jedd Gyorko - if they don't balk, pull the trigger! We might have to add some int'l slot money or something, but it beats JD walking... Then sign CF Lorenzo Cain to a 4-5yr deal, assuming he's got 3yrs as a starting OF left before taking his .300avg to the DH spot. At this point I could honestly be okay with keeping Barney, but Goins or both of them needs to go. I would actually prefer a guy like Brett Lawrie as a cheaper, super-utility with a little better pop off the bench and a + defender. Dump either Pearce or Morales for a song, need the roster spot more than the player. Essentially we just need to stay afloat and compete for a couple years until Bichette/Vlad/Alford/Gurriel/Urena break in and stick. C Russell Martin 1B Justin Smoak 2B Devon Travis SS Troy Tulowitzky 3B Jedd Gyorko LF Kevin Pillar CF Lorenzo Cain RF Teoscar Hernandez DH Kendrys Morales or Steve Pearce IF Lawrie/Barney, Refsnyder, Jansen/Torres, Tellez? OF Carrera, Pompey? SP Marcus Stroman SP Aaron Sanchez SP JA Happ SP Marco Estrada SP Alex Reyes SP Joe Biagini BP Tepera, Barnes, Rowley, Osuna, Leone, Mayza, Ramirez
  2. Cards get Fowler... Now official per SN - f***.
  3. Just looking at his numbers last year with CWS - not bad considering he jumped in mid-season... LH bat with some pop, solid at 1B and would probably do a 1 or 2yr deal for reasonable money... Way better option than Smoak IMO... Thoughts???
  4. Now that I think about it... The guy I'd really like to sign to play LF/1B is Mark Trumbo... Thoughts?
  5. Bruce hitting 25+ hr from the left side and defensively moving over to LF doesn't bother me at all at $13M. Pompey doesn't look like he's ever going to click so if u can regain a useful piece for him do it. Upton's contract is literally free this year, so if he doesn't play who gives a s***?!? ...oh and Angel Pagan is a f***ing old man - don't touch that!
  6. I still think we're losing Joey & Edwin at this point... And Saunders isn't even qualified - so what's the thought on a guy like Josh Reddick for 3yrs @ 27-$30M to play RF???
  7. My ideal moves for the offseason would look like this... (I'm assuming Edwin ends up in BOS for ridiculous $$$) 1. Trade for Votto, probably costs something involving Travis or Stroman + which I'm totally fine with honestly... an above average 1B with a career .313 AVG & a .425 OBP from the left side is exactly what this roster needed for 2016 and didn't have.... and for those questioning his fielding he had a .994 fld% in 158gms this year... so shut it. 2. If the Mets end up having to re-sign Cespedes after his opt-out & decline Jay Bruce's $13m option that's who I go after to play RF, however would also be interested in Reddick for a 3yr term... 3. If Edwin can be resigned, this is his spot, if not I'm looking at an economical body on a short deal here... a guy like Morneau, or Alvarez... maybe even Colabello if he can get his act together 4. Rotation is fine, even if Stro were dealt, I think Biagini challenges for a rotation spot next year anyhow.. Sanchez, Happ, Estrada, Liraino, Biagini still looks pretty good... re; bullpen, if Cecils ask is reasonable, sign him.. if not look at Boone Logan as a nice lefty option.
  8. It would be interesting to see Gibby just straight up swap Goins & Reyes for the next 7 games or so until Travis is ready to return. The main issue with Reyes lately hasn't been his glove as much as it has been getting the snap throw to end up anywhere near 1st while still in the air. He has been throwing flat-footed & just generally seems to have his upper body out-running his base... leading to off-balance, off-target throws. He still has the range to play 2B, however he does not need to make the long throw across the diamond which will hopefully buy him the time he needs to get set. Ryan Goins is twice the SS Reyes has EVER been defensively... and that is all he needs to be right now. The other option of course would be to try to trade him retained or for another horrible contract... which doesn't really fix this problem long term.
  9. Uhhhhh.... The Jays are trying (unwillingly likely...) to practice financial responsibility, but if push comes to shove Rogers has no shortage of money. If I'm Eddy Rogers I want to see some on field results before I allow Alex/Paul to start papering the FA pool. The Jays, like all major league teams deal in American currency also... The drop in CDN currency isn't likely gonna hurt til later in the year. This team was once a 2-time World Series Champion when the CDN dollar was at about $0.75 US so it is not a viable excuse anyhow.
  10. I thought about this too... super affordable too.
  11. perhaps named Robert Allen or Brett?
  12. Hey all, Is there any chance that Toronto could pry Walker away from the Bucs now that the deal with Kang seems imminent? Is it a total pipe dream? What do ya think the price would be, and would he be worth chasing? Apparently AA asked about him before re; a Lind deal... Thoughts?
  13. - Offer Axford 2yr/$5M deal, even if he pitches similar to last year he is an upgrade on Rasmussen, or Jenkins IMO - He is still over 10K/9IP. - Offer Carlos Villenueva a $2yr/$10M deal SP - Stroman, Buehrle, Hutchison, Dickey, Sanchez/Estrada BP - Cecil, Loup, Estrada/Sanchez, Norris, Villenueva, Axford, Hendiks, Redmond, Jenkins. WILD CARDS - Delabar, Romero, Drabek Obviously I would prefer they offer Shields a backloaded 5yr deal, and move two of Norris/Sanchez/Estrada into the pen, but I am not holding my breath...
  14. Ya, that just happened...
  15. Good thing the jays have climate control then eh? Musashi?
