Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Wilner is just a complete farce of a human being. I do not like this trade.

wamco Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Man...I reeeeeeeallly don't like this. *sighs* oh my...
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Yeah, the only thing I see from Wilner now are the tweets on this site. Since that suspension(shortly after), I stopped listening to Wilner, I don't blame him, he has to feed the family. Have no idea if he is qualified to do anything else. A lot of these radio personalities seem to pick up a job on another station or something?? Couldn't he get a job reporting local sports somewhere?? Get enough to feed the family. I wonder what would have happened if he stood up to Cito and Rogers back a few years ago... If he started his own blog or some other gig would he of got enough of a following to eventually get another good media job?? Or was it do what Roger's/Beeston says or the good life is over forever??
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I wouldn't even mind a fire-sale if it meant that we added a horde of hitting prospects to plug into the roster along with our pitching currently in the upper minors. That's the thing, they increase the budget significantly one year only to cut back a year or 2 later. I think we would all prefer it if they picked one direction and stuck with it.

Yeah, adding a 31 year old swingman at $5M wouldn't be a promising start to a fire sale. I'd prefer a boom/bust A ball prospect if a firesale was going to happen (I might actually prefer one to what they got regardless...)
Gorlak Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 This trade just proves AA needs to find money.

Rogers owns a LOT of sports media... It's unlikely (to use a cliche) that he'd have ever worked in this town again...

LunchBox Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Fat Inept Prisoner of Rogers would have been more appropriate and cut a little deeper lol
admin Site Manager Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I should delete this whole f***ing forum. What a f***ing joke this team has become. f***ing embarrassing.
wamco Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 would you rather have the 7m to spend or Estrada and 2.3M (assuming 4.7m in arby)
Gorlak Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I would not offer him arbitration so I can use all 7.5 owed to Lind elsewhere. That would be a huge waste of Lind's value, Could move Estrada for a prospect and keep all the money and get a prospect.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 f*** you Wade Davis, now we have Marcos Estrada for just......................... 5 millions?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Someone please change the Lakers logo for the Jays logo
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 But Dickey needs to be comfortable with Martin handling his balls. Right now only Thole has that right. That made me throw up.
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Maybe we acquired Estrada to trade him.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Maybe we acquired Estrada to trade him. We can't get an asset like Lind trading Estrada......just saying!!
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Lind is always f***ing hurt and even when he is playing, his back still limits his power. I agree that AA could have probably did better in a return, but you have to think Lind's health is better understood from AA and other GMs. Meh, this trade is a flyer for a flyer imo, but we get the healthier body. We don't need to be paying 7.5mil to a singles hitter who can't run or play defense while making constant trips to the DL and it will only get worse as he ages.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I go out of town for a few days, then ignore the internet for a couple more, and I find this. Holy f***ing s***. They basically shipped Lind for a $5M RP who might be on his way out (with our usual RP changing game) in a month or two into the season depending on if the long ball follows him here? I know Lind isn't great but I would hope they could have at least gotten back something a little better or at least a little less money. Then again $5 is less than $7.5 if he makes that in arbitration unless AA signs him low somehow. Lind seemed gone after Smoak was claimed but eh, think there could have been a better deal to make. Then again I might be delusional.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I guess another way of looking at it is it's one of those you take out bad contract we'll take yours while AA gets something instead of just buying him out?

This is the stupidest comment I've heard on the board in some time. His back limits his power?? So he hit .320 last year with 24 doubles in 290 at bats. He even hit a couple triples. Per 162 games over his career he hits 25 homers. He's had years where he swung at f***ing everything and did nothing except knock a few out of the park (ie 2011) So his back limits his power?? The only year (2014) where his power was limited he was actually a very effective hitter. Other years he was a power hitter, and a bad one sometimes (2010-2011). If Adam Lind's 2014 is what you get when your back limits your power then hopefully everyone has a bad back next year.

SAAviour Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Don't love this trade, but love the idea of having the DH spot open to rest players occasionally. When Lind is out for 3 months with a bad back from playing 1st everyday, no one will complain.
