Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Does this open the doors for Billy Butler in Toronto?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 IMO Lind carries more value around the league than Happ. You rarely see 5th starter types with not-insignificant salaries return much of anything. I guess it depends on how many NL teams see him as viable at 1st base every day (I'm assuming the Brewers do). Otherwise, the market is pretty damn limited, as a number of AL teams where he would normally fit have no room for him. Happ would fit on most teams as a #5 at reasonable cost.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Odd is Estrada stats look good once he was in the pen and used in a relief role! Not sure what the Ninja is doing this off season based on the last 48 hrs, nothing makes sense so far! Bizzaro world ! Lol One would hope there is a plan or method to this madness, not just a dart board! Don't hold your breath on that one.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I've been thinking the team should gamble one more year on Morrow since it has more SP depth than before and try to trade Buehrle instead. That would create some payroll room, but who knows what they'd do with the $avings.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Does this open the doors for Billy Butler in Toronto? No, Justin Smoak. I'm thinking AA is trying to set himself up to make a big improvement at 2B or 3B.

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 What happened to that thread archiving all of AA's bad moves? I want to read it again.

Parkerishere Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Marco estrada for Adam Lind straight up?! Are you serious?!? Adam Lind was the most clutch pinch hitter and destroy right handed pitching for a average pitcher!?! Adam Lind was one of my favorite players even though he rarely would sign a autograph. You lost your minds!!
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Buehrle at $19M >>>> Morrow at @10M. It would be a gamble, no doubt. Probably a dumb gamble. However, it would be Morrow @10M + what they could do with 9M although I admit it's not certain they wouldn't have to chip in some $ to trade Buehrle. On the other hand, they might get something in return for him. It's not that I want to get rid of Buehrle, but the budget is clearly frozen so I feel like they'll have to take risks.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Thole @ 1.75 is pretty awful.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Thole @ 1.75 is pretty awful. Dickey must feel like a king commanding two roster spots.
nmrch Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Thole @ 1.75 is pretty awful. oh please, a third string catcher making slightly more than the league minimum, do you guys like to whine for the sake of whining. The bigger problem is teh roster spot, i would personally get rid of Dickey to solve that problem but the team is obviously not that interested.

And not be on your 25-man. It's little things like this that add up to tank entire seasons.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 318% of the league minimum $1.25 M set on fire with the budget already very tight. No big deal.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 $1.25 M set on fire with the budget already very tight. No big deal. You know who could probably catch a knuckleball? Russell Martin.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 You know who could probably catch a knuckleball? Russell Martin. You know who is gonna price himself out, Russell Martin
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 You know who could probably catch a knuckleball? Russell Martin. But Dickey needs to be comfortable with Martin handling his balls. Right now only Thole has that right.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I think Martin ends up in LA again
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 I like Estrada...but...Smoak, really? I really hope Smoak isn't an everyday player. Is that asking for too much now?
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Marco Estrada hahahaha well get ready for dingers

FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 LOL AA.... even Ruin Tomorrow Jr. is laughing at this imbecile! I've never seen someone get fleeced in literally every single trade and still have ironclad job security.

reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 Yep. Member of the Blue Jays org. for 11 years. With him, McGowan, and likely Janssen gone, is Cecil the longest tenured Blue Jay?
xposbrad Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 AA is going from having an overpaid average team, to having an overpaid crappy team. That in itself requires talent.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 You will be missed...Adam "f***IN" Lind!! His bat is going to be missed. He really added depth to the lineup when used properly. The offense will suffer.
