Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Was my favourite for a while, I will miss him as a jay
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I miss JP Ricciardi. One of those days where one GM's incompetence makes me long for the days of an average GM.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 APRIL FOOLS EVERYBODY! Oh wait....its November. f***!
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 So Lind was traded for a terrible starter or maybe ok reliever. I hope he doesn't get pushed into the starting role just to achieve some sense of "value" for this trade. Happ is better than this guy. The offense is so torn apart right now I don't even know what to think. Bautista Encarnacion Reyes Lawrie Navarro Scrub Scrub Scrub Scrub What's most scary is that out of those 4 viable hitters at the top, they averaged 124 games last year between the 4 of them. Two of those guys are out at any given time, this lineup is the worst in the league. AA is going to have to pull off acquiring at a minimum two position players between Navarro and Lawrie.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Bye Lindogg Hopefully Estrada is a safety net for a Buehrle trade.
wamco Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I wanted more, but even with Lind's good 400 ab he might give you, the hr power seems gone
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 Wow didn't realize that Estrada's projected arbitration salary is $4.7.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Bye Lindogg Hopefully Estrada is a safety net for a Buehrle trade. Why are people "hoping" for a salary dump that makes the team worse? I hope Melky accepts the QO, Rogers announces they miss 2015 net income expectations, Rogers' stock tanks 25% and they fire AA and Beeston for failing to get the payroll down as commanded. I DO NOT hope for Buehrle to get traded, because it WILL NOT end well for us fans.

Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I find it funny that AA has basically given away 4 guys today that were all supposed to play a huge part for us winning these last two years.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Maybe AA needs to be lured down to parliament hill and the crazies can put him out of his misery? A dime a dozen arm that can be had for the same money on the open market and/or most likely could have been replaced from within for league min? If this fckn retard has anything to do with the inevitable rebuild once this debacle falls on its face it's hello cubbies. I think you have to change your screen name.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 That's brutal. We just traded our third best hitter, who was reasonably affordable, for a flyball pitcher, who couldn't hold his spot in the rotation of an NL non-contender. Negative 0.3 WAR. The worst part is that we don't have any depth to replace Lind. Dan Johnson? How about Justin Smoak, the career negative WAR .689 OPS 1st baseman? This season is quickly shaping up to be unwatchable.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I wanted more, but even with Lind's good 400 ab he might give you, the hr power seems gone Hi Mr. Beeston, welcome to the board.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Because I don't think the team will be able to do anything unless they clear Buehrle's salary. HAHAHAHA the way things are shaping up, that money's gonna be banked to Rogers. I can just smell it. If they do trade him, they STILL won't do a damn thing (that improves the team) imo.

If they wanted to spend $5 million on a reliever, there is pretty much endless opportunity to do that on the market. They took a guy with value, and punted him. Despite not actually having a backup.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 hopefully beginning of a firesale. most likey just the start of another nightmare offseason
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 what a f***ing s***** trade
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 This is one of those times where everyone on this board pretty much universally agrees. This is a bad trade. We all joined the hive today. Either: 1. Lind was given up for a maybe ok reliever. someone who could have been signed for a similar amount or less on the FA market. 2. Lind was given up for a #5 starter with maybe ok value if he performs above expectations. So basically traded away a serviceable player and made a bigger hole by plugging up an area of high depth. The only way AA can save this is if there are follow up trades that make sense, like the day they got Rasmus and started with Edwin Jackson. But my suspicion is this is his half-assed version of a salary dump after our Prez Jim Lahey met with Rogers BOD.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 seriously what the f*** was the point of that? trading lind straight up for a reliever (one that isn't proven i might add) is retarded. we already have like 5 JA happ's on this team, what does adding another one contribute. absolutely no faith in this FO, they continually amaze me at how incompetent they are
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 We just traded a 7.5M platoon guy for one year of a flyball pitcher. Lind don't deserve 7.5M but................Estrada isn't good fit for us right now.
43211234 Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Wilner will be spinning this like it's the greatest move ever. Wilner is just a complete farce of a human being. I do not like this trade.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Wilner is such a blind homer that it's almost refreshing to read his stuff on days where your team just made an awful trade.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Wilner is such a blind homer that it's almost refreshing to read his stuff on days where your team just made an awful trade. He used to be a bit more critical, then Rogers suspended him for hurting Cito's fee fees, now he just toes the company line
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 There's simply no difference between Wilner and Fake Wilner anymore.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 So does this mean a new platoon, f*** I hate platoons! Smoak/Mayberry 1st Edwin to full time DH?
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Wilner is just a complete farce of a human being. I do not like this trade. Did he mention that much of those stats were compiled against the Cubs and Pirates while they weren't fielding MLB teams? Looking at his splits between NL Central rivals and everyone else, it's even more horrifying.
LunchBox Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Hopefully Estrada is a safety net for a Buehrle trade. That was my initial assumption as well, really the only plausible conclusion. However, when the GM subsequently makes comments like "I would have declined Lind's option if he wasn't traded" it's very disconcerting.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 The firesale has begun. If they're gonna cut the payroll, just go into a rebuild. Anyone who knows anything about the way this franchise is operated from the top knew the payroll increase in 2012 was a mirage. They're always in-between.
