TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Dinosaur theory? Yep, those two out walks with RISP are extremely valuable. of which he had 3
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Not out of the zone. How many 2-0 cookies has Lind passed on with RISP? I'll tell you, TOO f***ING MANY!! I wish we could give negative thanks.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Not out of the zone. How many 2-0 cookies has Lind passed on with RISP? I'll tell you, TOO f***ING MANY!! Can a guy that supports a player that worked exactly TWO 2-0 counts last year (5 in his career) complain about Lind's watching a 2-0 pitch too many times?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Lol.. Goins would have put up the same WAR as Lind while hitting .220. Think about that for second. Lol.. You're dreaming about Goins hitting .220. Think about that for a second.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I'll bet you 50 bucks Goins doesn't out WAR Lind next season? seconded
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Ok enough for tonight children. You guys are like f***ing hyenas!

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Ok enough for tonight children. You guys are like f***ing hyenas! Goins will never be more than an AAAA guy, 25th man. Good fielding, poor hitting MIFs are a dime a dozen. Lind is only valuable because of the DH rule. Without the DH, his value takes a big dive. Long as the DH rule is around, Lind >>> Goins easily.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I'll bet you 50 bucks Goins doesn't out WAR Lind next season? I'll bet you Goins puts up a 1.5 WAR if he starts 100 games.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 From a Brewers point of view it's a good move. They get that left handed bat to bat after Braun in a lineup full of righties (only Scooter is a lefty I think). Gives Jason Rogers a chance to platoon with him likely...making him an interesting guy

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 lol...that ain't happening. Well? Put up or shut up.

S33n Verified Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Lind talk his way out of town. Good, I'm happy for him. This was obviously what he wanted and who could blame him? Jays are my favourite team but I sure as f*** wouldn't want to play here if I was a professional.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I did? Lind out WAR numb nuts? Miss it? STFU already. I'm saying Goins puts up at least the same WAR Lind did this year, which was 1.5 in 96 games. C'mon bro, that 141 wRC+ can't be challenged by a replacement player, right?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 You don't think they'll keep Reynolds around? They might if he's cheap enough. He's not a great platoon option for Lind though as he hasn't hit lefties well in 3 years. Personally I'd have a lot of issue going with him at all considering almost all of his value last year came from things that he's been horrible at for the past three years.
Statman Verified Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Lind - Gone Santos - Gone Morrow - Gone Janssen - Gone McGowan - Gone I like all these moves from AA thus far and it would be the same moves I would have made, but my rational for clearing this dead weight off the current roster and who I would add in return will probably end up being very different than what AA has in mind.
Superdood Verified Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I don't mind this trade at all. Sure Estrada gave up a ton of homers last year, but most were given up as a starter. If you look at his last 2 months as a reliever he only surrendered 2 homers. Stick him in the bullpen and I like this trade. Lind is on the downside of his career and can only hit decently against RHP anyways. When he's not on the DL of course. Just my 2 cents.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 *crickets* Yappers not willing to back up the talk it seems.

The reality is this trade doesn't hurt the team as much as many of us are making it out to be. AA now has some excellent rotational depth and saved a small but not insignificant amount of payroll in the process. He now has the luxury of dealing a SP without creating a hole.
nmrch Verified Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 who knew trading mediocrity for mediocrity would get the fan base this worked up. And Lind is nothing but mediocre, don't give me his WAR and OPS without understanding positional scarcity and the value lost by having to burn a roster spot on his platoon partner. WAR needs to be overhauled to account for this because right now it overrates platoon players, Lind isn't even worth his 7 million dollar salary and people are losing their minds because we only got a potentially decent reliever for him?

Created a heck of a hole in the lineup however. Tough time to do it with Rasmus and Melky leaving also.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Created a heck of a hole in the lineup however. Tough time to do it with Rasmus and Melky leaving also. Rasmus was a hole this season, so him leaving doesn't change anything. Melky leaving will hurt, but he will be replaced one way or another. I'm ok with the way things have gone so far the more I think about it. If AA can find a legitimate starter at 3B or 2B, things start to look pretty darn good IMO.
Gorlak Verified Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Dinosaur theory? Yep, those two out walks with RISP are extremely valuable. He hit .320, so runner on second he was literally the best option. Those walks are why he hit .320, can't hit bad pitches and expect good results.
Gorlak Verified Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 What do you mean Wat moron? A 1.5 WAR Goins obtains in his sleep. Remember, a win is a win is a win. Right? Gose could do that because of the steals, Goins though? I highly doubt it.
