KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I wasn't aware he was fired. I don't think he was. Must have quit to take this.
sdyment Verified Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 WTF? It's going to be one of those offseason isn't it... Should be exciting, I guess... I do expect AA to hit hard and fast ala November 2012.
sdyment Verified Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I'm not bothered... Just surprised. Curious if this is a clubhouse story that reveals itself over the offseason.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Relax hes replaceable. He had mixed results at best. I didn't mind him though. We know Colby's Dad hated him lol. Yeah he's replaceable but I'm sure the Jays can't be too thrilled with this. Seitzeir was supposed to have a good relationship with Gibby. They no doubt expected him to stick around.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Pretty sad when you have coaches bailing on your team every other season.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Former Yankees Long to the Jays in 3...2...1
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Coaches who have the ability to get jobs elsewhere tend to leave this organization pretty quickly (Farrell and now Seitzer). At least we can count on Gibbons to stay forever. Lucky us.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Didn't he already sign with the Mets. Yup
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Farrell and now Seitzer http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view5/2314818/trampoline-flip-o.gif
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 John Lott Seitzer to Braves report is true. Bluejays couldn’t reach deal with Seitzer. Other coaches, sans Stanley, return. Stanley to minors.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 The funny thing is, Butterfield's dream job was to manage the Blue Jays, yet they went with Gibbons (who was already a proven failure), and now more coaches are either leaving or being scapegoated (Mottola, Stanley, etc). Just hire a good manager and stop going through coaches every year. This type of turnover is not a good look.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Oh so he went after Atlanta... lol. He probably wanted a three year deal or something like that. Who really cares.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Seitzer leaves, chances are Jays fans choice for a job with the team (Molitor) is going to get a managers job in Minny. I sense a PR batting instructor signing now. Maybe as big a name as Alomar but likely former Gibbons teammate Mookie Wilson. Maybe a bigger name guy like Bichette who isn't affiliated with the team or they jump the Yankees and get Chili Davis.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Oh so he went after Atlanta... lol. He probably wanted a three year deal or something like that. Who really cares. I find it odd that the Jays didn't just give him what he wants. It's weird that they were willing to fire Mottola for this guy but not willing to commit to him long term. How much money does a hitting coach make? It can't be that much.

Stanley to minors. How hard is it to come to terms with a f***ing hitting coach? Holy f***ing Jesus we are in for a rough off season. My official prediction, we trade for John McDonald and call it a day.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Luis Mercedes. Bring him over.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 We dont' even have enough money to pay the hitting coach. This is going to be a bad offseason.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Lind for a reliever, Happ for a reliever, Pompey in LF, Mayberry at 1B, Izturis at 2B, and Sanchez in the rotation. I'm seriously setting the bar so low that I'm not disappointed. Not "coming to terms" with damn hitting coach is ridiculous and doesn't give me much hope for the rest of the off-season.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I'm shocked .....I guess for coaches we have a team policy of 1 year only. No multi year deals here.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 This is really not a big deal.
shortstop Verified Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 it may be Seitzer had a # from the Braves, went to the Jays & said match it/exceed it & Jays said no... my sense is he's getting a pretty good raise from what he was paid this year... my sense also is that Seitzer sees himself sticking with the Braves for 2+ years whereas I personally sense (without any supporting evidence whatsoever) this speaks volumes as to how much longer he thinks Gibby has...
baseballsss Verified Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 This is really not a big deal. It is for the soul fact that they weren't able to come to terms with a hitting coach. That's pretty sad.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 We dont' even have enough money to pay the hitting coach. This is going to be a bad offseason. We don't know that. It could be an issue with length as well. The Jays are not cheap, they will do what it takes to win.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Don't hitting coaches only earn about $400,000 a year? Usually around there. Only contract I remember being public was when Jaramillo signed with the Cubs and got 3 years $2.5M. He was the highest paid back then.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Tightened purse strings, etc.
