G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Seems totally stupid to spend money on new Turf. Just put the frigging grass in if you are going to do it anyway . I wish MLB would set a date that all stadiums have grass and that would also solve the Tampa situation. I know!
shortstop Verified Member Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 isn't the catch with grass that argos need to be out first, which needs to happen desperately for everyones sake but isn't gonna happen in the next few years?

Or even longer. This is another of those Rogers thinking only about money. Turf makes a lot more money for it's multi use than if they put in grass. i doubt we see grass at Roger center unless MLB demands it.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 If it gets to the point in 2020 where there is still no grass they may as well just shelve the idea and build a new ballpark. At that point it will be 30 years and if you plan for a new ballpark you could probably have one ready for 2023-2025
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I just consider Lawrie a bench player and anything he does healthy is a bonus... much like morrow We need something better than Valencia to serve as 3B replacement next year. You're expecting a big and busy off season.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I also don't understand why people are talking about this now, as this has been the plan since last offseason. It was reported throughout the spring that 2014 was the refurbish year, 2015 was new artificial turf and 2018 is new grass.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I just looked up Drew's numbers again. He went from bad in Boston to worse in New York. Still a slighty plus defender though. He did miss close to half the season and ST. Morales is playing like s*** as well.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 How do the Raiders and the A,s coexist and didn't they just extend the lease with the Argos Argos league ends in 2017. And the raiders/As coexist because they have no choice, not because they want to.

Here I'm bitching away about rogers when they are actually spending the bucks . Good news if they stick to it .

Good news if they stick to it . Yep. One of Mark Cohon's biggest failures as CfL commissioner was not getting anything done on finding the Argos a new place to play. It's arguably the biggest issue in the League right now.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Reyes would be one of my favourite players if he was making 12 million instead of 22 million and was open/willing to move to 2nd base for the benefit of the team. His defence is not adequate for 2b either
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Send Reyes to Buffalo and try to get him to retire. He's a 6million a year DH with no defensive range - even less than the mascot Saki
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Send Reyes to Buffalo and try to get him to retire. He's a 6million a year DH with no defensive range - even less than the mascot Saki Reyes IS playing with a sore hamstring, and it's been a problem for quite a while apparently. I don't know if you've ever pulled a hamstring, but starting and stopping fast really sucks. Anyhow, he's putting up 2.5 WAR even with the lack of defense and drop from base running. He's not even close to this team's biggest problem. Of course it would be nice if he was making closer to 15M per for the next few years instead of 22M, but it's not like he's pulling a Vernon Wells or Ryan Howard. I also believe that the defensive ratings don't properly account for the turf. That'll hopefully change next year with the full rollout of mlbam. As for Saki, he's rated as positive defense, just not as good as Goins. For a final musing, what the hell has happened to Escobar's defense this year???

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 How about New president and GM? This team needs to start over before even Sanchez and Stroman are wasted

glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 The Jays are crazy if they think new turf is going to help make Reyes a better fielder. If he doesn't want to switch positions, then trade him. He's not going to get better defensively, and his offense will likely dip as well. What a disaster.

Depending on the market I think you could probably trade him and have to kick in less than 10 million.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 LMAO Hey anyone want an aging shortstop who has 68M left on his contract I'd bet the Dodgers would, but the Jays would likely have to take Ethier back. Since the Jays need a LF'er anyway, it would solve one problem while creating another, but I truly believe Reyes is going to be an albatross by next season.
