http://blogs.thescore.com/djf/2014/05/27/argos-move-to-bmo-falling-apart/

Anywho, as you’ve probably heard by now, Cathal Kelly has published an interesting little piece today for the Globe and Mail, detailing how the supposed foregone conclusion that is the Argos’ move to a new-look BMO Field has hit a snag, and isn’t just on the verge of being called off, but that MLSE “has cancelled plans to include the Toronto Argonauts in their renovation.”

Could be a significant snag, or just politics being played. Gulp. This had better not get in the way of grass.

Sounds like the Argos have a problem. They can play on the Gardiner for all I care, they are just an amateur sports team in an amateur football league.

so are the argos in a state of limbo/no home or will they continue playing in the rogers centre until a solution is figured out?

Sorry you're wrong. Grant informed me that the CFL is clearly superior to the NFL.

I agree. DJF related posts should be off limits now.

You're just cruising for a personal Stoeten e-callout.

Read this yesterday, and the most significant thing I found in that piece was the possibility of an NFL team in Toronto. If there's absolutely any merit to that, I'd flip out.

Call me cynical, but I really think this grass field at Rogers Centre is a ruse. Beeston, as usual, is talking out of his ass, and changing his story every time he speaks. First it was 2015. Then it was not 2015 because of the Argos. Then the BMO possibility came up, and it was 2018 because they need drainage. Now it will be well the Argos need a place to play.

Either Beeston is being lied to, or he's just lying to placate the fan base, but I don't think Rogers is going to 1) give up Argos lease money if they can keep them playing there 2) give up ancillary revenue from other shows, events, concerts, etc. 3) spend money on top of all of that to dig up the cement floor to add in drainage and lay new grass and 4) give up the excuse that X Player (call him Carlos Beltran) wouldnt sign here despite us having the highest offer because he doesnt want to play on astroturf.

I think it's a complete BS they can't have grass and the Argos at the same time. They play something like 9-11 home games a year, if you can't adjust the seats/whatever to the way it should when you know they play so few games then something is wrong with you.

Typical toronto attitude check required here!

They have won more championships in the last twenty years then any pro team in all of toronto!

Support your local Cfl teams! :)

Those don't count. The CFL is basically a beer league.

It's the CFL

Who cares what the Argo's do? Just kick them out of the RC.

They were the last Toronto team to win a championship and they have actually played meaningful games at the Rogers Centre over the past two decades, something the Jays have not.

I'm really sick of the CFL bashing on here. I don't mind the CFL, it's actually quite entertaining to watch and there is some good talent in the league. Also, CFL games are broadcasted in the U.S. on ESPN3 and it does draw a lot of viewers.

An NFL team wouldn't thrive in Toronto. The Bills have been a huge disappointment.

Kick both the Argos and Toronto FC out of Toronto. Problem solved. When they decide to co-exist they can have teams back.

Stop denying us grass f***ers. Wait didn't Beeston say they gave the Argos until 2018 so they had time to find home. I think they're being kicked out regardless.

McCowan asked Beeston on PTS if the grass could be installed quicker if the Argos found a new home sooner and Beeston still said 2018 was the earliest they could get grass installed, regardless of the Argos situation.

That really is not a legitimate reason for your premise. Nobody in Toronto has any reason to care about the Bills.

But only if you watch the games on the radio.

I'm sorry, I just really don't like the CFL. I would never go out of my way to bash it but I doubt I'll ever be a fan.

The RC is a terrible venue for CFL football btw.

What's wrong with the RC? I actually think it's more suited for CFL than it is baseball. In baseball you want all the seats to be pointing home plate, in football you want all the seats to be pointing at the middle. In RC they point at the middle.

The stands are horrendous for football. You feel like you're a mile away from everything even when you're in the lower bowl.

I haven't been to other football stadiums so i can't really compare but i've sat at the lower bowl a few times and it felt too close sometimes. The general complaint for Argo fans is that it's too big for the number of crowds that we can draw in so it doesn't have the atmosphere you get in other venues.

I've been to both Jays and Argos games in both cases where it was empty (15-20k) and when it was full and in both scenarios it was A LOT more louder in the Argos games.

Oh a crappy team that could be seen a few hours drive away for 1/4th the price any other week doesn't sell out in Toronto, the NFL must not work there.

Are you kidding? A team would absolutely thrive here. The Bills don't belong to Toronto, that's why there's no loyalty.

The Bills don't have a huge fanbase in Toronto as people make it out to be. Bills fans in Ontario reside primarily in the Hamilton, Niagara and St.Catherines regions.
