Does this strike anyone else as oddly petty?

Framing is a thing you don't have to pay Free Agent value for though. The contract is still pretty bad.

Exactly. Teams don't pay for pitch framing and defense.. they pay for production, which McCann has failed to do. Worse, he will likely be moved to 1B sooner than later due to Tex's decline and the eventual arrival of Gary Sanchez.

They should at least put the guy who got the ONLY hit in the lineup :P

Isn't Gary Sanchez Montero-esque with the glove?

MLB.com says he has a 70 arm(above-average). But he has issues blocking and receiving pitches. He did throw out 39% of base stealers in AA this year.. but 17 errors, likely throwing errors, along with 10 passed balls.

70 arm=above average

man, the worst part is the jays just needed 5 more wins to this point to legitimately have a shot at the WC...5 wins...wtf

At the rate Oakland continues to collapse, Detroit playing KC, Seattle playing Houston, and Cleveland having a series with KC, who knows? Anything could happen between now and Sept. 28th.

All the Jays need to do is sweep the Yanks.. and both teams are a mess right now.

Sad because there were so many times when we should have won games and didn't. More so then vice-versa.

Gray surrenders 4 runs 3 earned in the 1st, A's down 4-0 in the 3rd. Jesus, man.

No kidding! If Seattle/Cleveland/Toronto/New York(more likely Seattle or Cleveland) pass the A's and make the playoffs with the A's missing them, there's going to be hell to pay in Oakland..

I saw on MLB Traderumors that a decent amount of player development contracts are up this year with minor league affiliates. Does anyone know if any of ours are up?

Not until 2016.

Seems really unfair (to A's / KC) that the Angels are not trotting out their best line-up tonight with Seattle still being very much in it....

No Trout, No Pujols, No Hamilton, No Calhoun, No Iannetta, No Aybar... not a single regular in their line-up

What an objectively stupid man.

The best part is when journalist and public figure Marty York with his 362 followers chastises a Regular Joe for only having 90 followers.

It's actually prob better they didn't. I would assume they got lit the f*** up the night before

That was pretty rich, but he ended up blocking him so he won a moral victory.

Prob better for the Angels? Not really fair to the rest of baseball though, from what I understand this is an unwritten rule...

Not a good start for Royals fans.. Tigers up 3-0 as they are lighting up Jason Vargas. Realistically, I wouldn't be surprised if KC's 29-year streak of no postseason continues.. Ned Yost is a terrible manager.
Posted
And based on what we're seeing in the Tigers/Royals game, this is why the Royals will not be in the postseason.. they can't beat the Tigers or Indians. At this point, it wouldn't be surprising if the Indians or Mariners surpass them.. hell, if they sweep, even the Yankees aren't out of it.

10-0 Tigers vs. the Royals.

A's lead 3-0 on the Phillies.

Mariners clobbering Houston 8-3.

Indians lead 4-3 on Minny.

Not a good night for the Royals hopes of ending their 29-year drought. If the Royals get swept vs. Detroit this weekend, they won't make the playoffs, and Ned Yost will likely joining John Gibbons, Bo Porter, and Fredi Gonzalez on the unemployment line.

Has anyone noticed how much better the Texas Rangers have played since Tim Bogar became the manager? 7-0 on the Angels.. Hector Santiago is garbage. Better hope Shoemaker is healthy for the playoffs.. or the Angels may have trouble getting out of the ALDS.

Tim Bogar is making a good impression to be the new Rangers manager next season with his 6-0 record since.. soon to be 7-0. Strange.. they've spoiled Atlanta and Oakland's postseason hopes. Too bad they can't hurt the Angels' positioning, as they're already so far ahead.

(Oh BTW, the O's lost 5-3 to Boston.)

Royals lose 10-1 to the Tigers.

You can imagine both Ned Yost and GM Dayton Moore's seats are getting hot.. both are likely to be fired if the Royals miss the playoffs, especially since they traded a top prospect (Wil Myers, Jake Odorizzi, and others) for James Shields, hoping to make the playoffs..

I'm rooting for the Royals, only to see some fresh blood make it, but I can't see them finishing better than Oakland, Detroit, and Seattle. If they collapse out of a playoff spot, that would be far more painful to their fanbase than what the Jays did to us. At least the Jays had the decency to collapse with enough time left in the season to temper expectations early. The Royals being in a playoff spot up to the final week before blowing it would be terrible for the only franchise with a longer playoff drought than the Jays.
