Would love Ventura but I think he will have a impact this year, Kyle zimmer looks like a workhorse but might have been overrated in the draft. Either would be good considering they're nearly major league ready

The Jays would want pitching and the Royals don't have any to spare.

Convince them they should want Gose instead

Use reverse psychology if needed like "it's a good thing you want Rasmus, cause that Gose guy is younger and faster and would cost a LOT more to acquire. Good call"

It is actually pretty ridiculous that so many people here think we should be looking to trade for prospects if we trade Rasmus. Getting good value on a trade is important, but come on. Whether you are bitter over the Dickey trade or not, at least be honest with yourselves on the position and mindset of the team when coming up with potential deals.

Why would we want Butler?

Well he's generally a desirable player, and acquiring a reliable hitter could make the prospect of trading Bautista more realistic.

So the majority of you want to trade a guy that has two 4+ WAR seasons in the last four years for prospects? If you guys under value the f*** out of him so much yourselves, what do you think other teams are going to want to pay?

Nobody is going to pay you what Rasmus is worth. Keep him. Extend him. It worked for Bautista, it worked for Encarnacion. It worked for Escobar and Janssen. Even though it sucked s*** at first for Lind, it still ended up working out. Extensions make sense.

Creating valuable assets just to sell them off for pieces that have the potential to be similar assets in the future is the kind of backwards, nonsensical s*** that gets teams in these messes in the first place. The Rays have to do that because they operate in the MLB's salvation army. The Jays are one of the biggest market teams with one of the biggest payrolls in the MLB now.

I dare any one of you to answer me this: why the hell should you sign free agents on the back-end of their careers when you have players entering their primes? If Rasmus was on another team and had just posted a 4-WAR season, everybody on this f***ing board would be desperately clamouring to put together hypothetical trade packages that would make him a Jay. The proof is right there when you look at people's opinions about guys like Yan Gomes and Henderson Alvarez (no past track records but people want them back) and guys like Ubaldo Jimenez, Ervin Santana and Aaron Hill (guys that were good, bad (some, arguably s***), and then good again, just like Rasmus).

Oh yeah, you want Hill and Gomes back because there's a hole at 2B? In the absence of Rasmus, having Melky, Gose and Sierra in two-thirds of your outfield is considered a f***ing hole.

It's so retarded to sit here and parade about how Gomes was a loss, despite the fact that he's never proven he can repeat his success, and that a guy like Ubaldo Jimenez is a good idea to sign, despite his alarming fastball/whiff rate concerns, but then to go into another thread and talk about selling high on Rasmus and Lind. It's the same people that would have sold high on Bautista and Encarnacion because they "didn't buy it". It's just stupid and I wish AA is smarter than that.

I would really like another bat like Butler in our lineup. Honestly, if you replaced Rasmus with Butler then we are talking about a lineup that pitchers would hate facing. We'd have a very solid group of hitters. No easy strikeouts anywhere. It would really only make sense to even think about Butler if we were getting something decent for Lind from someone though. It sure would be awesome to have more hitters that we KNOW about what we will get. Rasmus and Lind could be good or could be just awful.

Yep. We're in it to win it. Now. Not 5 years from now. AA's only targets now are quality starting pitchers and MLB capable second basemen.

If we're in 4th place and 22 games out at the trade deadline, then you start trading guys nearing FA for prospects.

Nobody south of the Mason-Dixon Line does the Dougie. So sayeth Blake Shelton

I love that line. And that song.

Hey guys, disregard my last post, it's full of ********. I just came up with a great idea.

Let's get rid of Rasmus and his 6.5M projected salary (because I mean, a 27 year old player that has always had incredible potential is probably only going to see success by fluke from here on out) to the first team that bites on him with a completely unproven MLB-ready prospect, and replace him with Shin-Soo Choo! Now the few rational ones among you please bear with me as I try to explain and convince you to join our genius hive-mentality.

You see, Choo is older than Rasmus by 4 years, which means he's definitely got more vetrin presents. Lots and lots of them. It would also give us the opportunity to downgrade on the basepaths, while simultaneously downgrading a defense that was already bottom-third in the MLB last year! Think of the range-spectacle we'd see out there with Old Man Melk, Joey Hip-Replacements and Mr. Choo! People would buy season tickets just to consistently watch the circus out there! Ergo, more money that we can use to further extend Choo with! We'd also be able to to pay Choo between three to four times as much, which would prevent us from giving money to rednecks like Cletus in the future! Now I know it might not make sense, given that Cletus is younger, faster and posted a significantly better WAR/150 but then ag--- oh f*** look! A BANDWAGON! Let's get on it before it passes by this station! What was I talking about again? Oh who cares.

It's a win-win-win, no-brainer situation. Look at all those hyphens. Let's sell those for prospects too!

I would be in favour of re-signing Rasmus, provided A) he puts together a strong first half and shows improvement in his K rate, B) it's only for 4-5 years max on a team friendly rate, and C) there's nobody showing they could be a better CF option and Rasmus shifs to LF if they do.

Anyone else actually picturing Dayton Moore having a big bulletin board up with a list of players he wants to trade for

Well of course that's where I got the reference. My iPod is full of country.

No, we wouldn't be, or we wouldn't be trying to trade him now. You think that .370 BABIP is sustainable? He's a sell-high candidate. You don't buy those, generally. I doubt many people here would be interested in him.

I'm quite confident Rasmus will put it all together next season and have a career year. He looked really good when back from injury last year. I'm thinking he'll lead this team in WAR next season.

I can't envision getting fair value in a trade for him.
